Fairfax County,officially the County of Fairfax,is a county in the Commonwealth of Virginia. It is part of Northern Virginia and borders both the city of Alexandria and Arlington County and forms part of the suburban ring of Washington,D.C.,the nation's capital. The county is predominantly suburban in character with some urban and rural pockets.

She previously served as Secretary of the Commonwealth of Virginia from 2006 to 2010,Chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors from 1995 to 2003,as a County Supervisor for the Providence District from 1986 to 1995,and on the Fairfax County School Board from 1984 to 1986.
MetroWest is a transit-oriented development being developed by PulteGroup (residential) and CRC (commercial) adjacent to the Vienna Metro station in Fairfax County,Virginia. It replaces 65 single-family detached houses with a mixed-use neighborhood including up to 1,174 residential units,up to 190,000 square feet (18,000 m2) of retail space,and up to 1,000,000 square feet (90,000 m2) of office space. The north boundary is Saintsbury Drive,and the south boundary is Lee Highway. In July 2009,Fairfax County approved Pulte's request to change the allocation of space to provide more office space and less apartment space.

Sharon Schuster Bulova is an American politician who was chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors in Virginia. A Democrat,she was first elected chairman in a special election on February 3,2009. Bulova was reelected in 2011 and again on November 3,2015. She retired at the end of her last term in January 2020.

The Northern Virginia Transportation Commission (NVTC) is an independent agency in the Commonwealth of Virginia to promote and improve transportation. It covers the Counties of Arlington,Fairfax,Loudoun,and the Cities of Alexandria,Falls Church,and Fairfax. NVTC manages the Northern Virginia Transportation District. That District was created by the 1964 Acts of Assembly of the Commonwealth of Virginia,chapter 630;and the Transportation District Act.
