Lindean is a village north of Selkirk and the Ettrick Water, in the Scottish Borders area of Scotland.
In 1590 the parishioners of Lindean had permission to rebuild their church on the north side of the Tweed, at the west end of Boleside, nearer to their houses, and a coble boat was to be provided to ferry the dead over the Tweed if required. [1]
Philiphaugh is a village by the Yarrow Water, on the outskirts of Selkirk, in the Scottish Borders.
Mordington is an agricultural parish in the extreme south-east of Berwickshire in the Scottish Borders region. Cove is close to Cockburnspath, Dunglass, Innerwick, Oldhamstocks, Bilsdean, and, further afield, Dunbar and Eyemouth. The climate is typical for Scotland, with cold, wet winters and variable summer weather, with days of rain and days of temperatures over 20 °C (68 °F).
Smailholm is a small village in the historic county of Roxburghshire in south-east Scotland. It is at grid reference NT648364 and straddles the B6397 Gordon to Kelso road. The village is almost equidistant from both, standing 6 miles (10 km) northwest of the abbey town of Kelso. Since local government reorganisation in Scotland in the early 1970s, Smailholm has been part of the Scottish Borders Council.

It is situated half a mile east of the hamlet of Legerwood and 6.5 miles (10.5 km) south east of Lauder in the Scottish Borders, on an unclassified road east of the A68 highway at grid reference NT593433. The parish church at Legerwood serves a wholly agricultural community and there are barely any clusters of houses worthy of being known as a village.

Horsburgh Castle, also known as Horsbrugh Castle or Horsbrugh Tower, is a ruined tower house castle by the River Tweed, on the A72 road from Peebles to Galashiels, near Glentress in the Scottish Borders area of Scotland. The ruins date from the 16th century and was built by the Horsburghs.

The Hermitage Water is a river in Liddesdale, in the Scottish Borders area of Scotland. Among its many feeder burns are Braidley Burn, Dinley Burn, Gorrenberry Burn and Twislehope Burn. The Water flows through the hamlets of Dinley and Gorrenberry, and through the village of Hermitage, and past Hermitage Castle. It continues past Toftholm where it meets the B6399, and passes Newlands, Longhaugh, Leahaugh and Redheugh. At Sandholm it joins the Liddel Water and the dismantled railway.
