The Inkatha Freedom Party is a right-wing political party in South Africa. Although registered as a national party,it has had only minor electoral success outside its home province of KwaZulu-Natal. Mangosuthu Buthelezi,who served as chief minister of KwaZulu during the Apartheid period,founded the party in 1975 and led it until 2019. He was succeeded as party president in 2019 by Velenkosini Hlabisa.
Prince Mangosuthu Gatsha Buthelezi was a South African politician and Zulu prince who served as the traditional prime minister to the Zulu royal family from 1954 until his death in 2023. He was appointed to this post by King Bhekuzulu,a son of King Solomon,who was a brother to Buthelezi's mother,Princess Magogo. Buthelezi was chief minister of the KwaZulu bantustan during apartheid and founded the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) in 1975,leading it until 2019,becoming its president emeritus soon after that. He was a political leader during Nelson Mandela's incarceration (1964–1990) and continued to be so in the post-apartheid era,when he was appointed by Mandela as Minister of Home Affairs,serving from 1994 to 2004.
Belinda Francis Scott,formerly Belinda Barrett,is a South African politician who was KwaZulu-Natal's Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Finance from 2014 to 2019. She served several terms in the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Legislature from 1994 to 2019,representing the African National Congress (ANC) from 2002 onwards after defecting from both the Democratic Party and the Inkatha Freedom Party. After she left the provincial legislature in 2019,she served as Deputy Mayor of eThekwini from September 2019 until she resigned from politics in February 2021.
Bonga Nkanyiso Mdletshe is a South African politician and traditional leader who represented the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) in the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature from 1996 to 2014. During this period,he served as Speaker in the legislature from 1998 to 2004. A lawyer by training,he entered politics during apartheid as a member of the government of the former bantustan of KwaZulu.
Keith Muntuwenkosi "Musa" Zondi is a South African politician who served as Deputy Minister of Public Works from 2001 to 2004. He represented the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) in the National Council of Provinces from 1994 to 1999 and in the National Assembly from 1999 to 2012. He served as the party's secretary-general and was widely touted as a possible successor to IFP president Mangosuthu Buthelezi before he resigned from his party office and legislative seat in February 2012.
Hendrik Jacobus "Hennie" Bekker is a South African politician who served in the Parliament of South Africa from 1987 to 2009,excepting a brief hiatus in the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Legislature from 2003 to 2004. He represented the National Party (NP) until the end of apartheid in 1994,after which he joined the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP).

Inkosi Mhlabunzima Wellington Hlengwa was a South African politician and Zulu traditional leader who served as Deputy Speaker of the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Legislature until his death in March 2005. Before assuming that office in 2004,Hlengwa represented his political party,the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP),in the National Assembly from 1994 to 2004. He was also the chief of KwaThoyana Tribal Authority near Umbumbulu in eThekwini,KwaZulu-Natal,a position to which he was appointed in 1988.
Thembinkosi Samson Khoza was a South African politician who represented the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) in the National Assembly from 1994 until his death in May 2000. He was a former leader of the IFP's Youth Brigade and served as the party's leader in Gauteng province. In the 1980s and 1990s,he was credited with expanding the IFP's political presence in the Transvaal.
Faith Xolile Gasa is a South African politician who was KwaZulu-Natal's Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Education and Culture from August 2000 to June 2001. She represented the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) in the National Assembly from 1994 to 1995 and in the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature from 1995 until her death in 2005. A teacher by profession,she was also a former chairperson of the IFP Women's Brigade.
Ruth Rabinowitz is a South African politician and medical doctor who represented the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) in Parliament from 1994 to 2009. She served in the Senate from 1994 to 1997 as a delegate from KwaZulu-Natal,and thereafter she was a member of the National Assembly.
Velaphi Bethuel Ndlovu is a South African politician from KwaZulu-Natal. He represented the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) in the National Assembly and KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Legislature for two decades from 1994 to 2014. During apartheid,he was a member of the KwaZulu Legislative Assembly,serving the Imbali constituency. He is also a former deputy chairperson of the IFP.
Jan Hendrik Slabbert is a retired South African politician who served in the National Assembly from 1994 to 2003. He joined the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Legislature after that. He is also a former mayor of Vryheid,KwaZulu-Natal.
Usha Roopnarain is a South African politician from KwaZulu-Natal. Between 1999 and 2013,she represented the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) in the National Assembly and KwaZulu-Natal Legislature. She resigned from the party in June 2013 and joined the African National Congress (ANC).
Madala Abram Mzizi,commonly spelled Abraham Mzizi,is a retired South African politician from Gauteng. He represented the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) in the National Assembly from 1994 to 2003,in the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Legislature from 2003 to 2004,and in the National Council of Provinces from 2004 to 2009. He rose to prominence during apartheid as an IFP activist on the East Rand.
Geoffrey Bongumusa Bhengu is a South African politician from KwaZulu-Natal. He represented the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) in the national Parliament from May 1994 until August 2002,when moved to the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature.
Walter Sidney Felgate was a South African politician,businessman,and anthropologist. He served in the National Assembly from 1994 to 1997 and then in the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Legislature from 1998 until his retirement in 2003.
Eileen Eidana Nkosi-Shandu was a South African politician who served as Deputy Minister of Public Works in the South African Government of National Unity from 1996 to 1999. Temba Ellis Vezi is a retired South African politician who represented the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) in the National Assembly from 2002 to 2007. Before that,he served in the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature from 1999 to 2002. During apartheid,he was a politician and legislator in the KwaZulu bantustan.
