Zanaco FC is a Zambian football club based in Lusaka that plays in the MTN/FAZ Super Division. They play their home games at Sunset Stadium in Lusaka. Zanaco Football Club was formed in 1978 as a social team by management trainees of Zambia National Commercial Bank. The team was launched at LOTUS INN in Lusaka. The founding members were Lloyd Choongo, Ben Banda, Nathan Lupupa and John Kasengele. Starting from the 1980s, Zanaco started growing steadily from a mere social club to becoming one of the most successful and decorated club in Zambian football history. Over the years the Sunset Stadium-based team has won 7 Super League trophies, 4 Charity Shields, 1 Coca-Cola Cup, 1 Mosi Cup and 3 BP Cups. Zanaco are the only team outside of Zambia's Copperbelt Province to have not only won but also defended the Super League Trophy.
Green Buffaloes Football Club is a Zambian professional football club based in Lusaka that competes in the Zambia Super League, the top flight of Zambian football. Founded in 1965 as the Zambian Army Football Club, an association football extension of the Zambian Army, it plays its home matches at the Independence Stadium.

Patrick Phiri is a Zambian football coach and former footballer. He featured for Zambian clubs Rokana United and Red Arrows as a striker and represented Zambia at the 1978 and 1982 African Cup of Nations tournaments. As a coach, Phiri led the Zambia U-20 national team to its first ever appearance at the 1999 FIFA World Youth Championship in Nigeria and was voted Zambian Coach of the Year at the end of the year. He was also in charge of Zambia at the 2008 African Cup of Nations in Ghana and has managed ten different club sides, with three of them more than once. He is currently in charge of Nakambala Leopards in the Zambian Premier League.

Jani Liabwa Simulambo is a former Zambian footballer and coach. Nicknamed Be Good, Simulambo had an outstanding career and played at the heart of Zambia’s midfield for close to ten years, representing the country at the 1974 and 1978 African Cup of Nations and was named Zambian captain in 1980.
Dick Chama was a Zambian footballer and coach who played as a centre-back. He was Zambia's defensive stalwart from the late '60s to the mid '70s and formed a formidable central defence pairing alongside Dickson Makwaza and was part of Zambia's squad during the country's very first CAN outing in 1974 and made the official CAF team of the tournament. Chama was voted Zambian Sportsman of the Year in 1975 and after retirement, he coached several club sides as well as the national team.
Fighton Simukonda was a Zambian coach and former footballer. He was part of the Nkana Red Devils side of the 1980s, winning five league titles, and he also captained Zambia. As a coach, he won several Zambian Premier League titles and became the first coach to lead a Zambian club to the group phase of the CAF Champions' League.
The Zambian Second Division, also known as Division due to sponsorship reasons, was the second division of the Football Association of Zambia. But the league pyramid was restructured before the season of 2019/20 when they also changed the league calendar to match the CAF calendar. The 2019-20 Zambia Super League is the 59th season of the Zambia Super League, the top-tier football league in Zambia. This is the first Super League season that has a new format which conforms with the CAF calendar. The league kicked off on 31 August. Zesco United are the defending champions and KYSA and Kansashi Dynamos are the newly promoted sides into the super league.
The FAZ Women Super Division is the highest league of women’s football in Zambia. It was established in the beginning of 2021 and is run by FAZ. The inaugural season featured 12 teams from four provinces in Zambia. The super division replaced the 4 regional women's leagues as the highest level of women’s football in Zambia, while the regional leagues dropped to the second tier. In November 2022 a new nationalwide division one was created, serving as the second tier and dropping the regional leagues to the third tier.
According to records from the RSSSF, there were many association football cup competitions organized in Zambia since 1962, some of which are the Independence Cup, the Zambian Challenge Cup, the Champion of Champions Cup and Zambian Coca-Cola Cup, the latter which began in 2001. These competitions are either inactive or were played no more as of 2009.
