Manning Rangers is a South African football club based in Durban. The side is best remembered as the Champions of the inaugural season of South Africa's Premier Soccer League.
The club was founded in 1928 by GR Naidoo who, as well as administering the club, played as its goalkeeper and was later a referee. In the mid-1960s, the club entered the professional ranks under the auspices of the South African Soccer League. In 1985, the club moved its base from Curries Fountain to Chatsworth. The club entered the 1st Division of the National Soccer League (NSL) in 1991.
In 2006, the club declared bankruptcy. The Fidentia Group purchased the club in 2007, renaming it Fidentia Rangers before moving the club from Durban to Cape Town as Ikapa Sporting. [1]
The club was reformed and as of 2023 plays in the amateur leagues. [2]
In the inaugural 1996/97 season of the Premier Soccer League, the unfancied Maulers then under the leadership of chairman Kaycee Reddy, stunned everybody with a fairy tale season and managed an impressive 23–5–6 record finishing top of the table with 74 points and becoming champions ahead bigger clubs such as the Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates. The club remained in the Premier Soccer League for several seasons. In 1998/99 the team represented South Africa in the CAF Champions League losing out to eventual winners ASEC Abidjan of Cote d'Ivoire. [4]

The 1999–2000 Premier Soccer League, known as the 1999–2000 Castle Premiership for sponsorship purposes, was the fourth season of the Premier Soccer League since its establishment in 1996. The season began on 30 July 1999 and ended on 4 June 2000. Mamelodi Sundowns once again managed to secure their crown, sealing their third successive PSL title. Along with their success in the PSL's predecessor - winning three National Soccer League titles in 1988, 1990 and 1993 - this gave Mamelodi Sundowns their 6th South African championship. Sundowns tallied 75 points for the season, equalling the points record they jointly set with Kaizer Chiefs last season, but unlike the previous season in which the title was decided by goal difference, there was no close title race this season as Sundowns finished comfortably ahead of second placed Orlando Pirates with an 11-point margin.
The 1997–98 Premier Soccer League, known as the 1997–98 Castle Premiership for sponsorship purposes, was the second season of the Premier Soccer League since its establishment in 1996. The season began on 1 August 1997 and ended on 13 May 1998. Mamelodi Sundowns won their first PSL title and their fourth South African title after previously winning the PSL's predecessor - the National Soccer League - on three occasions. This victory would be the first in a hat-trick of PSL titles for Sundowns, as the team from Pretoria would go on to dominate the league for the next two seasons.
