Black Aces was a South African football club that played in the Premier Soccer League. Aces usually played their home games in the Mpumalanga province but were based and trained in Johannesburg.
The original club was founded in 1937 by dairy workers. The club folded after finishing 14th in the National First Division inland stream in 2002. [1] The club had also been known as the Ukhumba Black Aces, Witbank Black Aces and Super Kurl Aces during its existence.
The club was in its second incarnation, and they entered the South African football league in 2007 when the Polokwane-based City Pillars league license was bought and the team was transferred to Witbank from Limpopo. [2] The license was acquired in December 2006, and the team played under the name of Mpumalanga Black Aces in time for the 2007–08 season. [3]
In 2004, two South African businessmen George Morfou and his brother Mario bought the club side Dangerous Darkies, a Vodacom League but the team failed to win promotion to the Mvela Golden League. The Vodacom League team was renamed Aces Academy in 2007 following the brothers' acquisition and in 2011, it was renamed AmaZayoni FC.[ citation needed ]
On 30 July 2014, it was announced that Aces had signed a new sponsorship deal with ISPS. [4]
In 2016, John Comitis purchased the franchise rights, closing the club and creating Cape Town City F.C. [5]

Kaizer Chiefs Football Club is a South African professional football club based in Naturena, Johannesburg South, that plays in the Betway Premiership. The team is nicknamed AmaKhosi, which means "Kings" or "Chiefs" in Zulu, and the Phefeni Glamour Boys. Chiefs have won 13 league titles and over 42 cup trophies. The Last time Kaizer Chiefs won a domestic trophy was in 2015 when they won the 2014/2015 PSL league trophy and have since never been able to secure any other domestic trophy thereafter. This is one of the reasons why Kaizer Chiefs fans across the country have been frustrated with the team's lack of Silverware which is nearing a decade despite being one of the richest and most supported PSL teams. As a result, they hold the most trophies amongst all clubs in South Africa and are the most successful team in South African football history since the start of the top flight in 1970. They are the most supported club in the country, drawing an average home attendance of 16,144 in the 2019–20 season, the highest in the league. It led to them being dubbed "The Biggest Club" in Southern Africa. The team plays its home matches at the 94,797-capacity FNB Stadium.

Supersport United were the defending champions, having won their second premier league title in the 2008–09 season. The campaign began in August 2009, and ended in March 2010. A total of 16 teams competed in the league. SuperSport United were crowned champions for the third successive time two matches before the end despite losing to Bidvest Wits (1–2) in the last match.
Highlands Park Football Club are a South African professional soccer club who played in Modderfontein, Johannesburg. They were founded in 2003 as a phoenix club to the earlier Highlands Park F.C. (1959) and Highlands Park F.C. (1990) The club started out in the fourth tier of the South African Football league, known as SAFA Regional League, and got promoted in 2007 to compete in the third tier, known as Vodacom League.
2009–10 National First Division, was the season from August 2009 until February 2010, of South Africa's second tier of professional football. By the end of the season, the Coastal stream champion Vasco da Gama met to play the overall championship final, against the Inland stream champion Black Leopards. Vasco da Gama won the final, and thereby got promoted to Premier Soccer League. The subsequent playoff stage, was contested by the losing finalist, two second ranked teams of the NFD streams, and the second lowest ranked team of PSL. Winner of the playoff stage, and thereby the second promotion to PSL, was the team Mpumalanga Black Aces.
