Linus Unah is a Nigerian journalist and writer. [1] He was a former reporter of Nigerian local news at Al Jazeera. [2] His work has been published in The Guardian, [3] IRIN News, [4] The Christian Science Monitor, National Public Radio. Linus is a documentary student at the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism. [5]

Early life and education

He badged Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication from University of Nigeria, Nsukka. [1] In 2019, he graduated with a certificate in peace journalism and digital journalism from Anadolu Agency News Academy. [1]

Works

Linus started his journalism career as an associate editor for Youth Journalism International from October 2013 to August 2021. In 2020, he became the West African representative for WildAid Environmental Organization. [6] In 2022, he participated as wildlife video production intern at WildAid from February to June. He is the author of Security Cooperation in West Africa and the Sahel in 2018. [7]

Awards

Unah received a grant award from Mongabay for Great Apes Special Reporting Project during the International Anti-Corruption Conference in Copenhagen in October, 2018. [10] In 2018, Unah won the Future Awards Africa Prize for Journalism. [11] [12]

The Sahel region or Sahelian acacia savanna is a biogeographical region in Africa. It is the transition zone between the more humid Sudanian savannas to its south and the drier Sahara to the north. Chikaodinaka Sandra Oduah is a Nigerian-American journalist who has worked as a television news producer, correspondent, writer and photographer. She is currently a correspondent for VICE News. Known for her unique human-focused ethnographic reporting style with an anthropological approach, she was awarded a CNN Multichoice African Journalist Award in 2016. Upon the abduction of 276 schoolgirls by the terrorist group Boko Haram in Chibok, northeastern Nigeria, she was the first international journalist to visit and spend extensive time in the remote community of Chibok. Her thorough and exclusive coverage of the mass kidnapping won her the Trust Women "Journalist of The Year Award" from the Thomson Reuters Foundation in 2014. He served as a U.S correspondent, editor and columnist at This Day newspaper. Akinremi is well known for his courage in journalism. On 16 September 2016, he broke a plagiarism story, in which Nigeria’s former President Muhammadu Buhari copied from President Barack Obama and passing it off as if it was his own.
