Lionel Sionne Baker (born 6 September 1984) is a West Indian former cricketer who has played first-class cricket for the Leeward Islands. He is the first person from Montserrat to have represented the West Indies at Test cricket.
Although he was born in Montserrat,Lionel Baker spent several years living in London and attended school there. [1]
Baker made his debut for the Leeward Islands in the 2004/05 season. [2]
In 2007 Baker,played for an English Village club side called Marston Green Cricket Club and broke their long standing batting record,scoring 207 against Aston Unity on 27 August. Baker scored 819 runs,and took 27 wickets in this season. Baker,took a shine to the local Chinese takeaway,and regularly ate shrimps for his post match snack.
In the 2008 English season,Baker represented Walmley in the Birmingham and District Premier League. [1] After impressing in the nets in 2008,Baker signed a two-year contract with Leicestershire County Cricket Club to represent them from 2009. He has a British passport which would have allowed him to play without counting as an overseas or Kolpak player. [1] However,a month later the deal fell through once Baker was selected for the West Indies team as he was no longer eligible to play as a Kolpak player. [3]
Baker has represented Montserrat in the Stanford 20/20 since the 2006 season and was selected in the Stanford Superstars squad in 2008 to play against England,but did not play for them. [3] [4]
Baker represented the West Indies at U19 level,he finished his Youth One Day International career with 17 wickets from 8 matches at an average of 18.47 with best bowling figures of 6/39. [2] The figures of 6/39 earned Baker a man-of-the-match award and were taken against Sri Lanka U19s. [5]
On 1 November 2008,the ODI squad to tour Pakistan was announced,with Baker as one of the members. [6] On the same day,it was announced that he was one of four players –along with Brendan Nash,Leon Johnson,and Kemar Roach –without a Test cap to be named in the 15-man squad selected to tour New Zealand for a Test series. [6] He became the first player from Montserrat to represent the West Indies senior side at international level when he made his One Day International (ODI) debut against Pakistan on 12 November 2008. [7] His first wicket in international cricket was that of Salman Butt,bowled. He did not bat and after coming on to bowl first change,finished the match with bowling figures of 9–0–47–3,also claiming the scalps of Younis Khan and Shahid Afridi as the West Indies narrowly lost by four wickets. Baker made his Test debut on 11 December 2008,playing against New Zealand. [9]

Philip Verant Simmons is a Trinidadian cricket coach and former player. He played international cricket for the West Indies from 1987 to 1999 as an opening batsman and right-arm medium pace bowler. He excelled in the One Day International (ODI) format and represented the West Indies at three Cricket World Cups.
Jerome Everton Taylor is a Jamaican cricketer who has played as a fast bowler for the West Indies. Taylor eventually picked up 100 wickets for the Windies in both tests and odis. During 2017 he reversed an initial decision to retire from international cricket. Taylor has also featured for Jamaica,English sides Somerset,Leicestershire and Sussex,CPL teams St Lucia Zouks and Jamaica Tallawahs and IPL sides Pune Warriors and Mumbai Indians in his cricketing career. Taylor was a member of the West Indies team that won the 2016 T20 World Cup. He is the only bowler to have ever taken a hat-trick in a Champions Trophy match,which he did in the 2006 tournament against Australia,and that was the first hat-trick taken by a West Indian bowler in the ODI format.
Dwayne Romel Smith is a former Barbadian international cricketer who has represented the West Indies in all three formats of the game. An all-rounder,he is known as an aggressive and powerful right-handed batsman,bowls medium pace,and is also an athletic fielder. Smith was a part of the West Indies team that won the 2012 T20 World Cup.
Daren Brent Lyle Powell is a former West Indian international cricketer who played first-class cricket for Jamaica. As a right-arm fast medium bowler,he has played Test matches and One Day Internationals (ODI) for the West Indian cricket team. Despite starting his cricketing career as a number 3 batsman,Powell is a genuine tailender. Powell has previously played for Gauteng,Derbyshire,Hampshire,and Lancashire.

Kieran Omar Akeem Powell is a Nevisian sportsman who has played international cricket for the West Indies. He is a left-handed opening batsman.
Anthony Martin is a West Indian cricketer. He has been an impressive first-class cricketer,and has represented the West Indies national cricket team in One Day International matches. He had been a fast bowler in his Under-15 days,but he injured his back in an accident and he could not bowl fast any more. He reverted to offspin but his Under-19 coach said he had to change his style due to their already having two established offspinners. He therefore changed to legspin.
Shannon Terry Gabriel is a Trinidadian cricketer who internationally plays cricket for West Indies cricket team. He is a fast bowler. He quickly became a key member of the Trinidad and Tobago attack after his debut in 2010. Following a neck injury to Ravi Rampaul,which forced him out of the match,Gabriel made his Test match debut for West Indies in May 2012,against England at Lord's. He made his One Day International (ODI) debut on 21 June 2016 against Australia. He is the first player to bat at No.12 in a Test match.
Jahmar Neville Hamilton is an Anguillan cricketer. He plays as wicket-keeper and is part of the Leeward Islands cricket team. He made his international debut for the West Indies cricket team in August 2019.
Shai Diego Hope is a Barbadian cricketer,who plays as a wicketkeeper/batsman for the West Indies cricket team. He is also the current ODI captain of the Windies. In June 2018,he was named the Men's Cricketer of the Year,Test Cricketer of the Year and the ODI Cricketer of the Year at the annual Cricket West Indies' Awards. The following year,he was named the CWI ODI Player of the Year. He is generally regarded as one of the best ODI batsmen in the contemporary cricketing world. Hope has also twice been named,for both 2020 and 2022,in the ICC ODI Team of the Year.
Gudakesh Motie is a Guyanese cricketer who plays for Guyana in West Indian domestic cricket. He is a left-arm orthodox bowler. He made his international debut for the West Indies cricket team in December 2021.

The Montserrat national cricket team is the representative cricket team of the British Overseas Territory of Montserrat. The team is not a member of the International Cricket Council,but the Montserrat Cricket Association is a member of the Leeward Islands Cricket Association,which itself is a member association of the West Indies Cricket Board,and players from Montserrat generally represent the Leeward Islands cricket team at domestic level and the West Indies at international level. Montserrat has however played as a separate entity in matches which held Twenty20 status,but has not appeared in first-class or List A cricket. The team was previously coached by Abdiel Hughes,who was appointed in April 2012. Their former captain was McPherson Meade.
Rehan Ahmed is an English cricketer. He made his international debut against Pakistan on 17 December 2022,becoming England men's youngest Test debutant at the age of 18 years and 126 days. On the third day of the match he also became the youngest debutant to take five wickets in an innings in men’s Tests. On 12 March 2023,Ahmed became the youngest England male cricketer to play in all three formats of international cricket.
