A Certain Magical Index is a Japanese light novel series written by Kazuma Kamachi and illustrated by Kiyotaka Haimura, which was later adapted into an anime series. The story follows the adventures of Toma Kamijo, a high school student in the scientific-advanced Academy City whose right hand contains a unique power called "Imagine Breaker", and Index, a young nun from the Church of England whose mind has been implanted with 103,000 grimoires of the Index Librorum Prohibitorum . The series broadcast 74 episodes over three seasons.
The first season aired on Chiba TV on October 4, 2008, and later on AT-X on January 8, 2009, upon the release of episode 14, until March 19, and consisted of twenty-four episodes. It adapts the first six volumes of the light novel. The second season aired from October 8, 2010, to April 1, 2011, and consisted of twenty-four episodes. It adapts the seventh to the thirteenth volume of the light novel. The third season aired from October 5, 2018, to April 5, 2019, and consisted of twenty-six episodes. It adapts the final nine volumes of the light novel. All three seasons are available on Blu-ray and DVD, as well as on streaming services.

A Certain Magical Index-tan (とある魔術の禁書目録たん) is an original video animation series included in the Japanese release of the first and fifth Blu-ray and DVDs of each season of A Certain Magical Index, which features a chibified Index and parodies of events that take place in the series.

A Certain Scientific Railgun is a Japanese manga series written by Kazuma Kamachi and illustrated by Motoi Fuyukawa, which began serialization in the April 2007 issue of ASCII Media Works' Dengeki Daioh magazine. The manga is a spin-off of Kamachi's A Certain Magical Index light novel series, taking place before and during the events of the main story. Seven Seas Entertainment began publishing the series in North America in June 2011. An anime television series adaptation by J.C.Staff aired in Japan between October 2009 and March 2010, followed by an original video animation released in October 2010. A second season titled A Certain Scientific Railgun S aired between April and September 2013. A spin-off manga series titled A Certain Scientific Railgun: Astral Buddy began serialization in Dengeki Daioh from April 2017 to July 2020. A third season titled A Certain Scientific Railgun T aired between January and September 2020.
Kazuma Kamachi is the pen name of a Japanese author who has published over 100 light novel volumes. He is best known for the creation of the A Certain Magical Index franchise which, as of 2019, has sold over 30 million copies worldwide and has been licensed in North America by Yen Press with the first novel being released in Q4 2014.
"No buts!" is the ninth single released by the J-pop singer Mami Kawada. It was released as a single on November 3, 2010 and its title track was later released on the album Square the Circle. The title track is used as the first opening theme for the second season of the anime series A Certain Magical Index. Overall, this is Kawada's fifth tie-in with said anime series.
A Certain Magical Index: The Movie – The Miracle of Endymion is a 2013 Japanese animated film based on an original story written by Kazuma Kamachi featuring the characters of his light novel series A Certain Magical Index. Produced by J.C.Staff and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures Japan, the film is directed by Hiroshi Nishikiori from a script written by Hiroyuki Yoshino and stars Atsushi Abe, Yuka Iguchi, Rina Satō, and Sachika Misawa. In the film, Toma Kamijo and Index meet Arisa Meigo, who has a mysterious past, as magicians target her for being a threat to the balance between the world of magic and science.
A Certain Scientific Accelerator is a Japanese manga series written by Kazuma Kamachi and illustrated by Arata Yamaji. It is a spin-off of A Certain Magical Index series, which focuses on Academy City's most powerful Level 5 esper named Accelerator. The manga was serialized by ASCII Media Works through their monthly magazine Dengeki Daioh from December 2013 to July 2020 and published in English by Seven Seas Entertainment. Kamachi and Teto Tachitsu wrote and illustrated its manga spin-off titled A Certain Idol Accelerator-sama, which was published from October 2015 to November 2018.
