Armanti Fredrico Edwards Sr. is an American former professional football player who was a wide receiver in the Canadian Football League (CFL) and National Football League (NFL). He played college football as a quarterback for the Appalachian State Mountaineers from 2006 to 2009, and was named a 2024 inductee of College Football Hall of Fame. Edwards led Appalachian State to one of the biggest upsets in college football history, a 34–32 victory over then fifth-ranked Michigan in 2007. He was selected by the Carolina Panthers in the third round of the 2010 NFL draft. In 2017, Edwards won the Grey Cup with the Toronto Argonauts. He last played for the CFL's Edmonton Elks.

James Hampton Duncan was an American football player and coach.

Wayne Anthony Smith is a former professional Canadian football offensive lineman who played in the Canadian Football League (CFL) from 2004 to 2017. He was drafted first overall by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the 2004 CFL Draft and spent four seasons over two stints with the team. Smith won a Grey Cup championship with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2007. He was also a member of the Toronto Argonauts of the CFL and the Washington Redskins and Denver Broncos of the National Football League. He announced his retirement in April 2017. He played college football at Appalachian State.

Darryl DevonD. J.Smith Jr., is an American football coach and former linebacker who is currently the linebackers coach at the University of Missouri. He was selected by the Green Bay Packers out of Appalachian State University in the sixth round of the 2011 NFL draft.

Harold Donald Alexander is an American former professional football player who was a punter in the National Football League (NFL). Alexander was selected with the 67th overall pick in the third round by the Atlanta Falcons out of Appalachian State University in the 1993 NFL draft. At the time of his selection, he was the second-highest drafted player out of Appalachian State.
