The South Australia cricket team, named West End Redbacks, nicknamed the ’Southern Redbacks’, is an Australian men's professional first class cricket team based in Adelaide, South Australia. The Redbacks play their home matches at Adelaide Oval and are the state cricket team for South Australia, representing the state in the Sheffield Shield competition and the limited overs Marsh One-Day Cup. Their Marsh One-Day Cup uniform features a red body with black sleeves. They are known as the West End Redbacks due to a sponsorship agreement with West End. The Redbacks formerly competed in the now-defunct KFC Twenty20 Big Bash, but were succeeded by the Adelaide Strikers in 2011 because this league was replaced with the Big Bash League.

Daniel Smith (Australian cricketer)

Daniel Lindsay Richard Smith is a former Australian cricketer. He played for New South Wales in the Pura Cup and Ford Ranger Cup competitions. He was involved in the thrilling 2008–09 KFC Twenty20 Big Bash final, scoring 1 not out and running through for a quick bye on the last ball to secure victory for the Blues. Smith also starred in the 2009 Champions League Twenty20 for the victorious NSW Blues. Daniel was the equal leading wicketkeeper for the series with four dismissals including 3 stumpings.

The Adelaide Strikers are an Australian professional Twenty20 franchise cricket team based in Adelaide, South Australia that compete in the Big Bash League (BBL). Their home ground is the Adelaide Oval, and they play in a cornflower blue uniform. The Strikers were formed in 2011 to play in the BBL, succeeding the Southern Redbacks, who played in the now-defunct KFC Twenty20 Big Bash competition. Their sole victory in the BBL came in 2017–18.

The Melbourne Renegades are an Australian professional men's Twenty20 franchise cricket club based in Melbourne, the capital city of the Australian state of Victoria. They compete in the Australian Twenty20 cricket competition, the Big Bash League. The team is coached by David Saker and captained by Nic Maddinson.

The Women's Big Bash League is the Australian women's domestic Twenty20 cricket competition. The WBBL replaced the Australian Women's Twenty20 Cup, which ran from the 2007–08 season through to 2014–15. The competition features eight city-based franchises, branded identically to the men's Big Bash League (BBL). Teams are made up of current and former Australian national team members, the country's best young talent, and up to three overseas marquee players.

Nicholas Christopher Richard Larkin is an Australian cricketer. He made his first-class debut for New South Wales on 31 October 2014 in the 2014–15 Sheffield Shield. On 10 January 2016 he made his Twenty20 debut for the Sydney Sixers in the 2015–16 Big Bash League. He now plays for the Melbourne Stars. He also represented Ireland in two List A games against Sri Lanka A in 2014.

The 2021–22 Big Bash League season is the eleventh season of the Big Bash League, the premier Twenty20 cricket competition in Australia. Each 2021–22 squad is made up of 18 active players. Teams can sign up to five overseas players, with a maximum of three of those being able to play in a matchday.
