In cricket, a batter reaches a century when he or she scores 100 or more runs in a single innings. A century is regarded as a landmark score for a batter, and their number of centuries is generally recorded in their career statistics. [1] The Big Bash League (BBL) is a professional league for Twenty20 cricket in Australia, which has been held annually since its first edition in 2011–12. In the eleven seasons played, 42 centuries have been scored. Batters from all of the eight franchises have scored centuries.
The first century in BBL was scored in the second match on 17 December 2011 at MCG by David Warner for Sydney Thunder against the Melbourne Stars. [2] Of the 42 centuries, only 6 have been scored by overseas batters, i.e. non-Australians (two by Luke Wright, one by Chris Gayle, one by Alex Hales, one by Colin Munro and one by James Vince), while 36 of those have been scored by Australian batters. Ben McDermott and Steve Smith are the only player two players to have scored three BBL centuries, while Alex Carey, Craig Simmons, Usman Khawaja, Luke Wright, D'Arcy Short, Aaron Finch, Glenn Maxwell, Matthew Short and Mitchell Owen have all scored 2 centuries in the league. [3]
As of 2025, the record for the highest individual score in the BBL is held by Glenn Maxwell, who is the captain of the Melbourne Stars (154 runs*, off 64 balls). Jake Weatherald and Mitchell Owen are the only players to score a century in the final. Weatherald achieved the feat in the final of BBL 2016–17 and Owen did it in the final of BBL 2024–25. Josh Brown hit the most sixes (12) in an innings in BBL history en route to scoring 140 runs in 57 balls against Adelaide Strikers in BBL 2023-24. Out of the 42 centuries, only three times the century has been scored in a losing cause, while one resulted in a No result.
The below list includes all BBL centuries organised in a chronological order. Teams are initially listed in alphabetical order. [a] [b]

For cricket neophytes, a century is when a player scores 100 runs in one at-bat. It is like a basketball player dropping 50 points in a game, but more prestigious.
