Broward County is a county in the southeastern part of Florida, located in the Miami metropolitan area. It is Florida's second-most populous county after Miami-Dade County and the 17th-most populous in the United States, with 1,944,375 residents as of the 2020 census. Its county seat and most populous city is Fort Lauderdale, which had a population of 182,760 as of 2020.

The College Academy @ BC Central is a joint venture between The School Board of Broward County and Broward College. The College Academy @ BC Central Campus offers high school juniors and seniors enrolled as full-time students in the program the opportunity to receive a high school diploma from The School Board of Broward County, Florida and an Associate of Arts (AA) degree from Broward College. The rigorous nature of the program helps students qualify for the State of Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program. The College Academy is designed for students who have the maturity required for college campus life and the academic ability to handle the rigor of college work. Both high school and dual enrollment courses are taught on the BC Central campus. An extension to North Campus has been opened in the fall of 2015. Students take between 12 and 18 college credits Fall and Winter Terms and approximately 6 college credits Session I of the Summer Term. Students must maintain a 2.5 unweighted grade point average in order to remain at The College Academy.

Armstrong has more than 33 years of experience as a state and national leader in higher education and economic development, and served as President of Broward College for 11 years.
Hazelle P. Rogers is a Democratic member of the Broward County Commission. She was a Democratic member of the Florida House of Representatives and was the Mayor of Lauderdale Lakes. She formerly represented the 95th District, which includes North Lauderdale, Lauderdale Lakes, and Lauderhill in northern Broward County, from 2012 to 2016, previously representing the 94th District from 2008 to 2012, before redistricting took place. She won an election to the Broward County Commission on August 23, 2022. She was sworn into this position in November 2022.
Broward Virtual School (BVS) offers full-time and part-time enrollment to students in grades K-12 through an online educational delivery system. Home educated students in grades 6-12 may enroll part-time as well. BVS offers students the opportunity to earn a standard high school diploma entirely online. BVS has been designated an "A" school by the Florida Department of Education.
