The chief justice is the presiding member of a supreme court in any of many countries with a justice system based on English common law, such as the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, the Supreme Court of Canada, the Supreme Court of Singapore, the Court of Final Appeal of Hong Kong, the Supreme Court of Japan, the Supreme Court of India, the Supreme Court of Pakistan, the Supreme Court of Nigeria, the Supreme Court of Nepal, the Constitutional Court of South Africa, the Supreme Court of Ireland, the Supreme Court of New Zealand, the High Court of Australia, the Supreme Court of the United States, and provincial or state supreme courts/high courts.

Bombay High Court High Court of Judicature at Mumbai

Bombay High Court is one of the oldest High Courts of India. It is located in Bombay, Maharashtra. Its jurisdiction covers the states of Maharashtra and Goa, and the Union Territories of Daman and Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli. The High Court has regional branches at Nagpur and Aurangabad in Maharashtra and Panaji, the capital of Goa.

Covering 107 acres, the court complex is one of the largest in the world, next only to Supreme Court of the United Kingdom, London.

Sam Piroj Bharucha was the 30th Chief Justice of India, serving from November 2001 until his retirement in 2002.

Rajendra Mal Lodha 41st Chief Justice of India

Justice R. M. Lodha was the 41st Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of India. Before being elevated to the Supreme Court, he served as the Chief Justice of Patna High Court. He has also served as a judge in Rajasthan High Court and Bombay High Court. On 14 July 2015, the Supreme Court committee headed by RM Lodha suspended the owners of Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings from the Indian Premier League cricket tournament for a period of two years for alleged involvement in betting.

Sharad Arvind Bobde Senior most judge of Supreme Court of India

Sharad Arvind Bobde is a judge of the Supreme Court of India. He is a former Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court. He is also serving as the Chancellor of Maharashtra National Law University, Mumbai and Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur. He is due to retire on 23 April 2021. With a tenure of eight years in Supreme Court of India, he is in line to be Chief Justice of India after superannuation of Justice Ranjan Gogoi.

Sudhakar Panditrao Kurdukar is a former Chief Justice of the Punjab & Haryana High Court in January 1994 later he became a Judge of the Supreme Court of India in March 96 and retired in January 2000.He was earlier a Judge in the Bombay High Court. He was acting Governor of Punjab from July 94 to September 94.
