This is a list of broadcasters for the Columbus Blue Jackets ice hockey team.

Television

On Bally Sports Ohio, Steve Mears serves as the television play-by-play announcer alongside former Blue Jacket Jody Shelley providing color analysis. Mears was named the play-by-play announcer prior to the 2024–25 season, following the retirement of Jeff Rimer. [1] Shelley was named the color commentator in the 2014–15 season, replacing previous analyst Bill Davidge. [2]

Davidge became co-host of Blue Jackets Live, the televised pre-game, intermission and post-game shows, with Brian Giesenschlag until his retirement at the conclusion of the 2018–19 season. [3] Beginning with the 2019–20 season, Giesenschlag's co-host is former Blue Jacket Jean-Luc Grand-Pierre. [4] In-game reporting is provided by Dave Maetzold.

Radio

On radio stations WBNS-FM [6] (flagship), WBNS, and 34 other affiliates in Ohio and West Virginia, Bob McElligott provides play-by-play coverage. McElligott joined the Blue Jackets radio broadcast in July 2009 as a color commentator and became the play-by-play announcer for the 2013–14 season, taking over for George Matthews who had been calling Blue Jackets games since the team's inception in 2000. [7] McElligott, along with Ryan Mitchell, hosts the pre-game and post-game radio shows. Fans can interact by e-mail and Twitter with McElligott and Mitchell during and after the game. [8] [9]

During his National Hockey League (NHL) career he played for the Columbus Blue Jackets, San Jose Sharks, New York Rangers and the Philadelphia Flyers.

Sam Rosen is an American sportscaster and Hockey Hall of Famer, best known as the primary play-by-play announcer for the National Hockey League's New York Rangers games on MSG. In 2008, Rosen was inducted into the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame. In 2016, Rosen was enshrined as the Foster Hewitt Memorial Award winner for outstanding contributions as a broadcaster by the Hockey Hall of Fame. Rosen is currently the longest-tenured active broadcaster in the NHL.

John Arthur Davidson is a Canadian-American professional ice hockey executive and former player, who currently serves as a senior advisor and alternate governor for the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League (NHL). As a goaltender, he played in the NHL for the St. Louis Blues and New York Rangers, and helped the Rangers reach the 1979 Stanley Cup Finals. Davidson also briefly served as Columbus' interim general manager during the 2023–24 season.

Daniel Patrick Kelly is an American sportscaster. He is the son of St. Louis Blues broadcaster Dan Kelly, and he is also the nephew of hockey and baseball broadcaster Hal Kelly, and the younger brother of current St. Louis Blues and former Colorado Avalanche TV play-by-play broadcaster John Kelly. He is the former television play-by-play voice for Chicago Fire in Major League Soccer on ESPN+, announcing on October 25, 2019, that his time with the Fire had ended.

SportsNet Pittsburgh (SNP) is an American regional sports network serving Greater Pittsburgh and western Pennsylvania. Jointly owned by Fenway Sports Group and Robert Nutting via the Pittsburgh Penguins and Pittsburgh Pirates, respectively. It serves as the main broadcaster of both teams. It is headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with some of its operations handled from the facilities of sister network NESN in Watertown, Massachusetts.

John Michael is an American sports broadcaster, currently serving as the TV play by play announcer for the Cleveland Cavaliers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). From the 2011-12 to 2018-19 seasons, he served as the team's radio play by play announcer.

The Ohio State Sports Network from Learfield is an American radio network consisting of 62 radio stations which carry coverage of Ohio State Buckeyes football and men's basketball. Steve Mears is the television play-by-play voice of the Columbus Blue Jackets. He has also called select NHL games for TNT since 2024.

The 2024–25 NHL season is the ongoing 108th season of operation of the National Hockey League (NHL). The regular season started on October 4, 2024, when the Buffalo Sabres and New Jersey Devils played the first of two games in Prague, Czech Republic, as a part of the 2024 NHL Global Series. The Stanley Cup playoffs are then planned to begin in April 2025, ending with the Stanley Cup Finals in June. This season is the first for the expansion Utah Hockey Club, who were established with the hockey assets of the Arizona Coyotes following the latter team's deactivation.
