The manga series Higurashi When They Cry comprises 14 separate story arcs written by Ryukishi07 and illustrated by several different manga artists working separately on one or more story arcs primarily based on the Higurashi no Naku Koro ni visual novel series by 07th Expansion. The first manga, an adaptation of Onikakushi-hen , is illustrated by Karin Suzuragi and was serialized in the Square Enix's Gangan Powered between the May 2005 and May 2006 issues. Suzuragi also draws the manga adaptation of Tsumihoroboshi-hen , which was serialized in Gangan Powered between the August 2006 and June 2008 issues, and Matsuribayashi-hen , which started serialization in Gangan Powered in the August 2008 issue. When Gangan Powered was discontinued with the April 2009 issue, Matsuribayashi-hen was transferred to Square Enix's Gangan Joker with the May 2009 inaugural issue, and ran until the May 2011 issue. Suzuragi's also drew the manga adaptation of Saikoroshi-hen , which was serialized between the July and December 2011 issues of Gangan Joker.
Yutori Hōjō illustrated the adaptations of Watanagashi-hen , which was serialized Square Enix's Gangan Wing between the June 2005 and May 2006 issues, and Meakashi-hen , which was serialized in Gangan Wing between the August 2006 and April 2008 issues. Jirō Suzuki illustrates the adaptation of Tatarigoroshi-hen , which was serialized in Square Enix's GFantasy between the June 2005 and June 2006 issues. Yoshiki Tonogai illustrates the adaptation of Himatsubushi-hen , which was serialized in Square Enix's Monthly Shōnen Gangan between the February and November 2006 issues. Hanase Momoyama illustrated the adaptation of Minagoroshi-hen , which was serialized in GFantasy between the July 2008 and July 2010 issues. Rechi Kazuki illustrates the adaptation of Hirukowashi-hen , which was serialized in Square Enix's Gangan Online between March 26 and September 24, 2009. In addition to the main series, there are four side stories related to the main Higurashi story, but with new characters. The first, named Onisarashi-hen (鬼曝し編, Demon Exposing Chapter), is drawn by En Kitō and was serialized in Comp Ace between the May 2005 and November 2006 issues. The next, titled Yoigoshi-hen (宵越し編, Beyond Midnight Chapter), is drawn by Mimori and was serialized in GFantasy between the July 2006 and August 2007 issues. Another manga titled Utsutsukowashi-hen (現壊し編, Reality Breaking Chapter) is also drawn by Kitō and was serialized in Comp Ace between the February and August 2007 issues. The last side-story, Kokoroiyashi-hen (心癒し編, Heart Healing Chapter), is drawn by Yuna Kagesaki and was serialized Kadokawa Shoten's Comp Ace between the October 2008 [1] and April 2009 issues.
The chapters for the question arcs, Onikakushi-hen, Watanagashi-hen, Tatarigoroshi-hen, and Himatsubushi-hen were collected into two bound volumes each between December 2005 and December 2006 in Japan. The first two answer arcs, Meakashi-hen and Tsumihoroboshi-hen, were collected into four volumes each. Onisarashi-hen and Yoigoshi-hen were collected into two volumes each released in Japan between April 2006 and August 2007. Utsutsukowashi-hen was released in a single volume in December 2007 in Japan, and a single volume of Kokoroiyashi-hen was released in March 2009. Hirukowashi-hen was published in a single volume in December 2009. In total, 38 volumes have been released over the entire series. Yen Press licensed the manga series at New York Comic Con 2008 under the title Higurashi When They Cry for release in English in North America. [2] The manga was initially serialized in Yen Press' Yen Plus anthology magazine, the first issue of which went on sale on July 29, 2008. The first English volume of the manga was originally planned to be sold in early 2009, [2] but was released in November 2008. [3]

Daisuke Moriyama is a Japanese manga artist best known for creating the Chrono Crusade series which was adapted into a 24 episodes anime series by the studio Gonzo. Moriyama worked on a series called World Embryo, which was serialized in the Young King OURs magazine from 2005 to 2014.
Higurashi When They Cry is a Japanese murder mystery dōjin soft visual novel series produced by 07th Expansion that comprises the first two entries of the When They Cry franchise. The series focuses on a group of young friends living in the fictional village of Hinamizawa and the strange events that occur there in 1983.
Karin Suzuragi is a Japanese manga artist and illustrator. She writes mainly for anthologies of video games published by Square Enix and Ohzora Publishing. Since 2005, she has serialized four manga based on the Higurashi When They Cry visual novel series, Onikakushi-hen, Tsumihoroboshi-hen, Matsuribayashi-hen, and Saikoroshi-hen, in Gangan Powered and Monthly Gangan Joker. In 2007, she serialized a special comic based on Wild Arms XF from the November to March issue of Dengeki Maoh. In January 2008, she was in charge of illustrations for Seifuku Musume, published by Shueisha and Super Dash Bunko. In the same year, from the August issue of Monthly Shōnen Rival, she serialized Out Code: Chōjō Hanzai Tokumu Sōsakan.
Material Puzzle is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Masahiro Totsuka. It was serialized in Square Enix's shōnen manga magazine Monthly Shōnen Gangan from 2002 to 2007, followed by gaiden chapters and a short series subtitled Saikō Shōnen, published from 2007 to 2008. A prequel series by Kimitake Yoshioka, titled Material Puzzle: Zero Kreuz, was serialized in Monthly Shōnen Gangan and Gangan Online from 2008 to 2009. Nine years after the original series' finale, Totsuka started another series, titled Material Puzzle: Kaminaki Sekai no Mahoutsukai, in Kodansha's seinen manga magazine Morning Two, which ran from 2018 to 2022.
Umineko When They Cry is a Japanese dōjin soft visual novel series produced by 07th Expansion. Its first episode debuted at Comiket 72 for Windows in August 2007. The story focuses on a group of eighteen people on a secluded island for a period of two days, and the mysterious murders that befall them. Readers are challenged to discern whether the murders were committed by a human or some other, supernatural source, as well as the method and motive behind them. The eight main Umineko games are split into two sets of four, which are considered the third and fourth titles in the When They Cry series, preceded by the two sets of Higurashi When They Cry games and followed by Ciconia When They Cry.
Book Girl is a collection of Japanese light novels by Mizuki Nomura, with illustrations by Miho Takeoka. The series contains 16 volumes: eight cover the original series, four are short story collections, and four are of a side story. The novels were published between April 2006 and April 2011 by Enterbrain under their Famitsu Bunko imprint. Yen Press licensed the light novel series and began releasing it in English in North America in July 2010. There have been four manga adaptations serialized in Square Enix's shōnen Gangan Powered and Gangan Joker, and Kadokawa Shoten's shōjo Beans Ace and Monthly Asuka. An anime film adaptation produced by Production I.G was released in Japanese theaters on May 1, 2010.
Saki (咲-Saki-) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Ritz Kobayashi. The story revolves around a first-year high school girl named Saki Miyanaga who is brought into the competitive world of mahjong by another first-year, Nodoka Haramura. The manga has been serialized in Square Enix's Young Gangan since February 3, 2006 and is licensed in English by Yen Press. A 25-episode anime adaptation by Gonzo aired between April and September 2009 on TV Tokyo.
Restaurant to Another World is a Japanese light novel series written by Junpei Inuzuka, with illustrations by Katsumi Enami. Shufunotomo have released five volumes of the series since February 2015. An anime television series adaptation produced by Silver Link aired from July to September 2017. A second season by OLM aired from October to December 2021.
The World's Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat, also known as The world's best assassin, To reincarnate in a different world aristocrat, is a Japanese light novel series written by Rui Tsukiyo and illustrated by Reia. It was serialized online from July 2018 to October 2021 on the user-generated novel publishing website Shōsetsuka ni Narō. It was later acquired by Kadokawa Shoten, who have published the series since February 2019 under their Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko imprint.
Shibuya Goldfish is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Hiroumi Aoi. It was serialized in Square Enix's Gangan Joker from September 2016 to April 2021 and published in 11 volumes.
A Herbivorous Dragon of 5,000 Years Gets Unfairly Villainized is a Japanese light novel series written by Kaisei Enomoto and illustrated by Shugao. It was serialized online between June 2017 and June 2020 on the user-generated novel publishing website Shōsetsuka ni Narō. It was later acquired by Kadokawa Shoten, who have published three volumes from February 2018 to October 2019 under their Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko imprint. A manga adaptation with art by Kōichi Muro was serialized in Square Enix's shōnen manga magazine Monthly Gangan Joker from January 2018 to November 2019. It was collected in five tankōbon volumes. An original net (ONA) anime adaptation by Studio LAN aired in Chinese on Bilibili from July to October 2022, with the Japanese dub airing on television from January to March 2023. A second season has been announced.
Murciélago is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yoshimurakana. It began serialization in Square Enix's seinen manga magazine Young Gangan in August 2013.
