This is a list of stations of the Kochi Metro. There are 25 stations planned on the line from Aluva to Tripunithura railway station [1] [2] 24 of them are currently in operation as of September 1, 2022. [3]

Kochi, also known by its former name Cochin, is a major port city along the Malabar Coast of India bordering the Laccadive Sea. It is part of the district of Ernakulam in the state of Kerala. The city is also commonly referred to as Ernakulam. As of 2011, the Kochi Municipal Corporation had a population of 677,381 over an area of 94.88 km2, and the larger Kochi urban agglomeration had over 2.1 million inhabitants within an area of 440 km2, making it the largest and the most populous metropolitan area in Kerala. Kochi city is also part of the Greater Cochin development region and is classified as a Tier-II city by the Government of India. Aluva is an eastern suburb of the city of Kochi in Kerala, India. It is a part of the Kochi metropolitan area and is situated around 15 km (9.3 mi) from the city centre on the banks of Periyar River. A major transportation hub, with easy access to all major forms of transportation, Aluva acts as a corridor which links the highland districts to the rest of Kerala. Cochin International Airport at Nedumbassery is 11.7 km from Aluva. Aluva is accessible through rail, air, metro along with major highways and roadlines. Aluva KSRTC bus station is an important transport hub in Kerala and one of the busiest stations in central part of the state.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">E. Sreedharan</span> Indian engineer (born 1932)

Elattuvalapil Sreedharan is an Indian engineer and politician from the Indian state of Kerala. He is credited with changing the face of public transport in India with his leadership in building the Konkan Railway and the Delhi Metro while he served as the managing director of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) between 1995 and 2012. Known as the Metro Man, he was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2001, the Padma Vibhushan in 2008, the Chevalier de la Legion of Honour in 2005 by the Government of France and was named one of Asia's Heroes by Time magazine in 2003. Sreedharan was appointed by the former UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to serve on the United Nations's High Level Advisory Group on Sustainable Transport (HLAG-ST) for a period of three years in 2015. He is a member of Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board. He briefly served as a national executive council member of Bharatiya Janata Party, but later quit active politics in December 2021. He also worked as an advisor of Dhaka Metro authority which is called Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited under the Railway Ministry of Bangladesh.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Ernakulam</span> Downtown in India

Ernakulam is the central business district of the city of Kochi, Kerala, India. It is the namesake of Ernakulam district. The eastern part of Kochi city is mainly known as Ernakulam, while the western part of it after the Venduruthy Bridge is called as Western Kochi. Many major establishments, including the Kerala High Court, the office of the Kochi Municipal Corporation and the Cochin Shipyard are situated in Ernakulam. It is also the most urbanized area in the city of Kochi.

The Kochi Metro is a rapid transit system serving the city of Kochi and the wider Kochi Metropolitan Region in Kerala, India. It was opened to the public within four years of starting construction, making it one of the fastest completed metro projects in India. The Kochi metro project is the first metro system in the country which connects rail, road and water transport facilities. It is also the first metro rail system in India to be operated using the Communication-Based Train Control (CBTC) signalling system, which requires minimum human intervention. The Kochi Water Metro is integrated with the Kochi Metro, which serves as a feeder service to the suburbs along the rivers where transport accessibility is limited.

Vyttila Mobility Hub is an integrated transit terminal in the city of Kochi. It is designed as a converging point of various forms of public transportation, such as local and long-distance buses, metro rail and inland water transport. It is planned over an area of 37 acres (150,000 m2) in Vyttila, making it one of the largest bus termini in India.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Silver Line (K-Rail)</span> Semi-high speed rail corridor

The Silver Line is a proposed higher-speed rail line in India that would connect Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city, and Kasaragod of Kerala state. It will have an operating speed of 200 kilometres per hour (120 mph), Maximum Design Speed: 220 km/h (140 mph), structures designed for 250 km/h (160 mph) allowing trains to cover the 532-kilometre (331 mi) distance in less than four hours, compared to the present 10 to 12 hours it takes to traverse this distance. Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Chengannur, Kottayam, Kochi, Thrissur, Tirur, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod will be the stations in this corridor. The project is temporarily halted by the state government till the Central government approval.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Kochi Water Metro</span> Integrated ferry transport system in Kochi, India

Kochi Water Metro (KWM) is an integrated ferry transport system serving the Greater Kochi region in Kerala, India. It is the first water metro system in India and the first integrated water transport system of this size in Asia. When becomes fully operational, the Kochi Water Metro will connect Kochi’s 10 island communities with the mainland through a fleet of 78 battery-operated electric hybrid boats plying along 38 terminals and 16 routes spanning 76 kilometers. It is integrated with the Kochi Metro and serves as a feeder service to the suburbs along the rivers where transport accessibility is limited.

Ambattukavu is a station of Kochi Metro. It was inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, on 17 June 2017 and opened for public on 19 June as a part of the first stretch of the metro system, between Aluva and Palarivattom. The station is located between Companypady and Muttom.

Aluva is an elevated metro station serving as the northern terminal of the Kochi Metro. It is located besides the Aluva flyover near the Aluva market and the banks of the Periyar river. Spread over an area of 1.5 lakh square feet, it is Kochi Metro’s second biggest station after Vadakkekota. It was inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on 17 June and opened for public on 19 June 2017 as a part of the first stretch of the metro system, between Aluva and Palarivattom. Aluva Metro station has Periyar river as its theme. Along with images of rivers, the floors of the station are also designed to symbolize the river water resources.

Palarivattom is a station of Kochi Metro. The station served as the south terminus of the line until the extension to Maharaja's College was opened on 3 October 2017. The station is now located between Changampuzha Park and J. L. N. Stadium. The name of the station originates from Palarivattom, the area it is located.

J. L. N. Stadium is a station of Kochi Metro. It was opened on 3 October 2017 as a part of the extension of the metro system from Palarivattom to Maharaja's College. The station is located between Palarivattom and Kaloor. The name of the station is given because of the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. The 11.2 km extension to Infopark via Kakkanad as a part of Kochi Metro project phase two begins from J. L. N. Stadium station. The corporate office of Kochi Metro Rail Limited is also located at this station.

Kochi Metro Rail Limited, abbreviated to KMRL, is a centre-state public sector company in Kochi, Kerala, India, that operates the Kochi Metro and Kochi Water Metro. The company was incorporated on 2 August 2011.

Abhimanyu was a student activist stabbed to death in Maharaja's College, Ernakulam on 2 July 2018. He was a student of B.Sc. Chemistry.

Pettah metro station is a metro station of Kochi Metro. It was opened on 7 September 2020 as a part of the extension of the metro system from Thaikoodam to Pettah.
