Leinster Lightning was established in 2013, and accorded first-class status in 2017. [1]
Since then, they have played first-class, List A and Twenty20 cricket at a number of different home grounds.
Their first home first-class match was against North West Warriors in 2017 at Oak Hill Cricket Club Ground in County Wicklow. [2] From 2019, College Park was due to become the home ground for Leinster Lightning for the 2019 and 2020 seasons, [3] though this arrangement failed to materialise.
As of 4 September 2018, Leinster Lightning have played seven first-class matches, [2] 18 List A matches, [4] and 20 Twenty20 matches at eight different home grounds. [5] The grounds that Leinster Lightning have used for home matches are listed below, with statistics complete through the end of the 2023 season.

Edmund "Ed" Christopher Joyce is an Irish cricket coach and former cricketer who played for both the Ireland and England national cricket teams. After beginning his career with Middlesex, he moved to Sussex in 2009, before returning to Ireland to play for Leinster Lightning in the fledgling first-class competition, the Irish Inter-Provincial Championship. A left-handed batsman and occasional right-arm bowler of medium pace, Joyce is widely regarded as one of the best cricketers produced by Ireland.
The Ireland men's cricket team represents all of Ireland in international cricket. The Irish Cricket Union, operating under the brand Cricket Ireland, is the sport's governing body in Ireland, and they organise the international team. The team have a number of home grounds, including Malahide in County Dublin, Stormont, Belfast, Bready in the north-west and Clontarf in Dublin city. A further ground is planned for the National Sports Campus in Abbotstown, Dublin for 2030. Due to the short season allowed by the Irish climate, and lack of large scale facilities, Ireland also occasionally play 'home matches' in venues in England and further abroad.
Castle Avenue Cricket Ground, also known as Clontarf Cricket Club Ground, is a cricket facility in the suburb of Clontarf, Dublin, Ireland. It is the primary of the two grounds of Clontarf Cricket Club, the secondary being at Mount Temple Comprehensive School, and the lands on which it lies are also home to two rugby union pitches belonging to Clontarf FC. The ground is one of only four One Day International grounds on the island of Ireland.
John Anderson is a former Irish cricketer. Anderson is a right-handed opening batsman who bowls right-arm off spin.
Cricket in Ireland is governed by Cricket Ireland, which maintains the Ireland men's and women's cricket teams. Like several other sports in Ireland, cricket is organised on an All-Ireland basis. Following the team's success in the 2007 Cricket World Cup, the sport's popularity increased in Ireland. The country was, until 2017, an associate member of the International Cricket Council and played in tournaments like the World Cricket League and ICC Intercontinental Cup, which are qualifying rounds for associate teams to the Cricket World Cup and the ICC World Twenty20. Ireland qualified for the 2009 ICC World Twenty20, the 2011 Cricket World Cup and 2010 ICC World Twenty20. In the 2011 World Cup, they beat England in the group matches.
Stormont is an international and first-class cricket ground in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It is situated in the grounds of the Stormont Estate, the seat of government in Northern Ireland, and is the home of Civil Service North of Ireland Cricket Club.
Malahide Cricket Club was founded in 1861 and is situated within Malahide Castle demesne, near the railway station. The club has over 400 members and is open all year round. The club currently fields 20 teams.
College Park is a cricket ground in the grounds of Trinity College Dublin in Ireland and is the home ground of Dublin University Cricket Club. A cricket match at Trinity College was mentioned in a poem 1820s between a team from Ballinasloe playing "the Collegians", although whether this match was played on the present ground is not known. The first recorded mention of cricket on the present ground dates from 1868, when Ireland played an All-England Eleven in a non first-class fixture.
The Vineyard is a cricket ground in Dublin, Ireland. In local domestic cricket, the ground is the home of The Hills Cricket Club. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1992, when Munster played North Leinster. In 2005, the ground hosted two List A matches in the 2005 ICC Trophy. The first of these saw Bermuda play Scotland, which resulted in a Scottish victory by 6 wickets. The second of these saw Denmark play Namibia, which resulted 103 run victory for Namibia.
Malahide Cricket Club Ground or The Village is a cricket ground in Malahide, Ireland, situated in the Lady Acre field of Malahide Castle grounds. The ground is owned by Malahide Cricket Club. The ground has been developed to a capacity of 11,500, making it Ireland's biggest cricket venue; it officially opened for international cricket in 2013. In November 2017, it was confirmed as the venue for Ireland's first men's Test match, when they played Pakistan in May 2018.
The 2015 ICC Europe Division One was a cricket tournament held in Jersey from 9–13 May 2015. The tournament was organised by ICC Europe, and featured the top six associate members in that region – Denmark, France, Guernsey, Italy, Jersey, and Norway. Ireland, the Netherlands, and Scotland had already qualified for the World Twenty20 Qualifier, while England qualify for the World Twenty20 automatically.
Bready Cricket Club Ground is a cricket ground in the village of Magheramason, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. The ground is owned by the Bready Cricket Club. The ground became Ireland's fourth venue for international cricket along with The Village in Malahide, Dublin, Ireland; Castle Avenue in Clontarf, Dublin, Ireland, and the Civil Service Cricket Club Ground in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Simranjit "Simi" Singh is an Indian born Irish cricketer. In December 2018, he was one of nineteen players to be awarded a central contract by Cricket Ireland for the 2019 season. In January 2020, he was one of nineteen players to be awarded a central contract from Cricket Ireland, the first year in which all contracts were awarded on a full-time basis.
David Colin Alex Delany is an Irish cricketer. He made his Twenty20 cricket debut for Munster Reds in the 2017 Inter-Provincial Trophy on 16 June 2017. He made his first-class debut for Leinster Lightning in the 2017 Inter-Provincial Championship on 5 September 2017. He made his List A debut for Leinster Lightning in the 2017 Inter-Provincial Cup on 10 September 2017.
Fionn Philip Hand is an Irish cricketer. He made his Twenty20 debut for Leinster Lightning in the 2018 Inter-Provincial Trophy on 6 July 2018. He made his List A debut for Leinster Lightning in the 2019 Inter-Provincial Cup on 23 May 2019. In June 2019, he was named in the Ireland Wolves squad for their home series against the Scotland A cricket team. He made his first-class debut for Leinster Lightning in the 2019 Inter-Provincial Championship on 18 June 2019.
