The M-30 orbital motorway circles the central districts of Madrid, the capital city of Spain. It is the innermost ring road of the Spanish city, with a length of 32.5 km. Outer rings are named M-40, M-45 and M-50. Its length and the surface surrounded by the M-30 is comparable to the Boulevard Périphérique of Paris, the Grande Raccordo Anulare of Rome or the London Inner Ring Road.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Line 4 (Madrid Metro)</span> Rapid transit line of the Madrid Metro

Line 4 is a rapid transit line of the Madrid Metro connecting the west and center of Madrid with the said city's northeastern end, running between Argüelles and Pinar de Chamartín. It consists of a total of 23 narrow-gauge stations with 60-metre platforms. Altogether, its route measures just under 15 kilometers, with a journey that lasts approximately 38 minutes. It is operated by a single train model, the 3000 series of the CAF company, which circulates in compositions of 4 cars. This represents a limitation on its maximum passenger capacity per train, which is compensated by one of the highest frequencies in the entire network.

The Battle of Ciudad Universitaria was a battle at the beginning of the Siege of Madrid in the Spanish Civil War. The battle happened at the new campus of the Ciudad Universitaria from 15 to 23 November 1936. The battle caused the frontline in this part of Madrid to stabilize for most of the war. The republican militias' objective was the defense of the capital at all costs, and for that it was necessary to stop the advance of General Valera's troops of the Army of Africa. Conversely, the attackers aimed to conquer the city as fast as possible. The persistence and tenacity of both sides in the battle meant an inflection point in the Spanish Civil War, partly because it was the first time that Franco's troops were stopped. The campus was also one of the most long-lasting confrontation points during the Spanish Civil War. The resistance shown in Madrid raised the morale on other fronts of the Republican government's controlled zone.

The Almendra Central is a zone of Madrid comprising seven districts: Centro, Arganzuela, Retiro, Salamanca, Chamartín, Tetuán, and Chamberí, (even though, sometimes, the City Council of Madrid includes part of an eighth, Moncloa-Aravaca, specifically the Argüelles yard, all inside the M30 motorway.

Madrid Río is an urban park in the Spanish capital Madrid, built along an urban stretch of the Manzanares River following the burial of the M-30 bypass road in this area. It is the result of a project led by the architect Ginés Garrido, who won the international ideas competition organised by the Madrid City Council in 2005 to redevelop the area.
