Northwest Missouri State University is a public university in Maryville, Missouri. It has an enrollment of about 8,505 students. Founded in 1905 as a teachers college, its campus is based on the design for Forest Park at the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair and is the official Missouri State Arboretum. The school is governed by a state-appointed Board of Regents and headed by President Dr. Lance Tatum.
Justin Smith, nicknamed "the Cowboy", is an American former professional football player who was a defensive end in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Missouri Tigers, earning All-American honors. He was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals with the fourth overall pick in the 2001 NFL Draft for seven seasons. Smith also played seven seasons for the San Francisco 49ers.

Jeremy Maclin is a former American football wide receiver. He played college football at Missouri, where he was a two-time consensus All-American, and was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft. He also played for the Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens, making a Pro Bowl appearance in 2014 with the Eagles. Maclin retired in 2019.
Clayton Lee Harbor is a former American football tight end and current television personality. He was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the fourth round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He played college football at Missouri State. He has also been a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars, New England Patriots, Detroit Lions and New Orleans Saints.
The Central Missouri Mules football program represents the University of Central Missouri in college football and competes in the NCAA Division II. In 1912, Central Missouri was a charter member of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA), and has remained in the league. UCM's home games are played at Audrey J. In their 10th year under head coach Jim Lookabaugh, the Cowboys compiled a 6–4 record, won the Missouri Valley championship, lost to William & Mary in the 1949 Delta Bowl, and outscored opponents by a combined total of 219 to 127.
Joseph Lee Moore, Jr. is a former American football running back. He was drafted in the first round of the 1971 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears after playing college football for Missouri.
Michael Alan Sam Jr. is an American former professional football defensive lineman who is a coach for the Barcelona Dragons in the European League of Football (ELF). Sam played college football for the Missouri Tigers and was selected by the St. Louis Rams of the National Football League (NFL) in the seventh round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He played one game for the Montreal Alouettes in the Canadian Football League (CFL).
The 1935 Tulsa Golden Hurricane football team represented the University of Tulsa during the 1935 college football season. In their eleventh and final year under head coach Gus Henderson, the Golden Hurricane compiled a 3–6–1 record, but was 3–0 in conference play and tied for the Missouri Valley Conference championship. The team defeated Oklahoma A&M (12–0), Washburn (19–6), and Drake (7–0), tied Kansas State (13–13), and lost to SMU (14), TCU (14–12), Centenary (22–0), George Washington (3–0), and Arkansas (14–7).

In their third year under head coach John Cooper, the Golden Hurricane compiled a 6–5 record. Tulsa played only two games against conference opponents, Wichita State and New Mexico State, but neither game counted in the conference standings.

The team's statistical leaders included Jerry Keeling with 1,018 passing yards, David White with 444 rushing yards, and Jim Furlong with 209 receiving yards.
