John Herschel Glenn Jr. was an American Marine Corps aviator, engineer, astronaut, businessman, and politician. He was the third American in space, and the first American to orbit the Earth, circling it three times in 1962. John Harold Cooper is a former American football player and coach. Cooper was an assistant coach at Iowa State, Oregon State, UCLA, Kansas, and Kentucky. Then, he embarked on a head coaching career, as he served as the head coach at the University of Tulsa (1977–1984), Arizona State University (1985–1987), and Ohio State University (1988–2000), compiling a career record of 192–84–6. Cooper was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame as a coach in 2008.

John Glenn High School is a public high school in New Concord, Ohio. It is the only high school in the East Muskingum Local School District. Their nickname is the Little Muskies, taken from nearby Muskingum University's nickname, the Muskies.

The 2005 Ohio State Buckeyes football team represented Ohio State University in the 2005 NCAA Division I-A football season. The team's head football coach was Jim Tressel. The Buckeyes played their home games in Ohio Stadium. The team finished the season with a win–loss record of 10–2, and a Big Ten Conference record of 7–1. They tied for the Big Ten championship with Penn State.

Jon Heacock is an American football coach and former player. He is the defensive coordinator at Iowa State University. Heacock served as the head football coach at Youngstown State University from 2001 to 2009, compiling a record of 60–44. He was an assistant coach at Youngstown State for seven seasons under Jim Tressel.

Josh Boyer is an American football coach who is the defensive coordinator for the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League (NFL). Boyer previously coached with the New England Patriots and multiple college football teams.

Jim Heacock is a former American football coach. He served as the head football coach at Illinois State University from 1988 to 1995, compiling a record of 37–49–2. In 1996, he became an assistant coach at Ohio State University and served as the defensive coordinator for the Ohio State Buckeyes from 2005 until his retirement following the 2011 season.

Chris Ash is an American football coach who is the defensive backs coach for the Las Vegas Raiders of the National Football League (NFL).

Tyson Veidt is an American football coach and former player. He is the associate head and linebackers coach at Iowa State University. Veidt served as the head football coach at Bluffton from 208 to 2013, compiling a record of 36-70. He was previously an assistant coach at Toledo for two seasons under Matt Campbell.
