Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) is a private research university in Worcester,Massachusetts. Founded in 1865 in Worcester,WPI was one of the United States' first engineering and technology universities and now has 14 academic departments with over 50 undergraduate and graduate degree programs in science,engineering,technology,management,the social sciences,and the humanities and arts,leading to bachelor's,master's and PhD degrees. Winston Wole Soboyejo commonly known as "Wole" is an American Scientist of Yoruba Nigerian parentage. He is also the interim president at Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
David Marius Bressoud is an American mathematician who works in number theory,combinatorics,and special functions. As of 2019 he is DeWitt Wallace Professor of Mathematics at Macalester College,Director of the Conference Board of the Mathematical Sciences and a former President of the Mathematical Association of America.
Neil T. Heffernan is a professor of computer science at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He is known for his role in the development of the ASSISTments online learning tool and app,which assists students with homework and classwork while helping teachers assess where to focus instructional time in mathematics,and is used by over 50,000 students a year in the US. His work gained prominence when a New York Times Magazine story by Annie Murphy Paul featured ASSISTments and Heffernan's research with the tool.
Tjama Tjivikua is a Namibian academic and businessman. He was the Rector of the Polytechnic of Namibia in Windhoek since its inception in 1995. When the institution was renamed into Namibia University of Science and Technology in 2015,Tjivikua continued to lead it,now in the position of vice-chancellor,until March 2019.

Suzanne L. Weekes is a professor of Mathematical Sciences at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI). She is a cofounder of the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute Undergraduate Program.
Jennifer Wilcox is an American chemical engineer and an expert carbon capture and storage and removal of CO2 from the atmosphere. She is the Presidential Distinguished Professor of Chemical Engineering and Energy Policy at University of Pennsylvania and a former James H. Manning Chaired Professor of Chemical Engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Wilcox conducts research focused on minimizing the environmental and climate impacts of our dependence on fossil fuels. In January 2021,she became acting Assistant Secretary for Fossil Energy and Carbon Management and Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary (PDAS) for Fossil Energy and Carbon Management.
Arthur Brough Bronwell was an American professor of electrical engineering who served as president of Worcester Polytechnic Institute (1955–1962) and dean of the University of Connecticut School of Engineering (1962–1970). A building on UConn's campus was named in his honor.
