Central America Region of the Americas

Central America is a region of the Americas. It is bordered by Mexico to the north, Colombia to the south, the Caribbean Sea to the east, and the Pacific Ocean to the west. Central America consists of seven countries: Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama. Their combined population is estimated at 44.53 million (2016).

The protected areas of the United States are managed by an array of different federal, state, tribal and local level authorities and receive widely varying levels of protection. Some areas are managed as wilderness, while others are operated with acceptable commercial exploitation. As of 2020, the 36,283 protected areas covered 1,118,917 km2 (432,016 sq mi), or 12 percent of the land area of the United States. This is also one-tenth of the protected land area of the world. The U.S. also had a total of 787 National Marine Protected Areas, covering an additional 3,210,908 km2 (1,239,739 sq mi), or 37 percent of the total marine area of the United States.

Florida's state forests are state forests overseen by the Florida Forest Service. There are 35 state forests in Florida covering more than 1,058,000 acres. The first state forest in Florida was Pine Log State Forest, established on 6,960 acres in 1936. Cary State Forest was established in 1937. Blackwater River State Forest and Withlacoochee State Forest were added in the late 1950s and early 1960s.

There are four categories of protected areas in India, constituted under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972. Tiger reserves consist of areas under national parks and wildlife sanctuaries. There are 52 tiger reserves in India. As of May 2012, the protected areas of India cover 156,700 square kilometres (60,500 sq mi), roughly 4.95% of the total surface area.

Etoniah Creek State Forest

Etoniah Creek State Forest is in the U.S. state of Florida. The 8,679-acre (35 km2) forest is located in North Central Florida, west of Palatka near Florahome. This area is the only known site for Conradina etonia, an endangered plant.

Jennings State Forest

The Jennings State Forest is in the U.S. state of Florida. The 25,301-acre (102 km2) forest is located in northeastern Florida, near Jacksonville. The forest is the home of rare plants such as the Bartram's Ixia and St. John's Susan.

Ralph E. Simmons Memorial State Forest

The Ralph E. Simmons Memorial State Forest is in the U.S. state of Florida. The 3,638-acre (15 km2) forest is located in northeastern Florida, near Hilliard, although it's closer to Boulogne. The forest was renamed in 1996 for Ralph E. Simmons, a former member of the St. Johns River Water Management District Governing Board.

Seminole State Forest

The Seminole State Forest is in the U.S. state of Florida. The 25,812-acre (10,446 ha) forest is located in Central Florida, near Eustis. Access to the forest is available from Florida State Road 44, Lake County Road 46A and Florida State Road 46. Surrounding parks and preserved areas include Lower Wekiva River Preserve State Park, Rock Springs Run State Reserve, Lake Norris Conservation Area, and the Ocala National Forest. The Florida National Scenic Trail runs through the from southeast to northwest.

Watson Island State Forest is located in St. Johns County, Florida. The state forest includes 199 acres of Bottomland Forest, 129 acres of Wet Flatwoods, 124 acres of Mesic Flatwoods, 26 acres of floodplain, 23 acres of Baygall forest, 2 acres of Floodplain Marsh, 2 acres of ruderal and 1 acre of dome swamp.

The NC State–Wake Forest rivalry is a series of athletic contests between in-state rivals, the North Carolina State University Wolfpack and the Wake Forest University Demon Deacons. The first game was played in 1895 between the two institutions. Wake Forest was originally located in Wake Forest, North Carolina until it moved its campus across the state of North Carolina to Winston-Salem, North Carolina in 1956. The two universities are members of the Atlantic Coast Conference, where they meet every year in football due to being aligned in the Atlantic Division. The schools play each other twice in basketball every season, due to being primary partners.
