Thomas (the Tank Engine) & Friends is a British children's television series, first broadcast on the ITV network on 9 October 1984. It is based on The Railway Series of books by the Reverend Wilbert Awdry and his son, Christopher Awdry.

Contents

Until 2008, all characters were voiced by the narrator. Voices were given to the characters following the switch to full CGI animation in 2009 until 2021.

He is best known for his contributions to The Railway Series of books featuring Thomas the Tank Engine, which was started by his late father, Wilbert Awdry (1911–1997). He also produced children's books based on a number of other railways, as well as non-fiction articles and books on heritage railways. He was born at Devizes, the family moving to Kings Norton, Birmingham, when he was aged five months. Awdry was educated at Worksop College, a public school in North Nottinghamshire.

Clive Spong is an English illustrator of The Railway Series books by the Rev. W. Awdry. He illustrated the books written by Christopher Awdry published since 1983.

John Hasler is an English actor. He is best known as T-Shirt in the children's television series T-Bag from 1985 to 1992, and for voicing Thomas the Tank Engine in the UK dub of the children's television series Thomas & Friends from 2015 to 2021. Hasler was the only cast member on T-Bag to remain with the show for its entire television run, starting as a young boy and leaving as a teenager. He has a child, Alice.

Thomas & Friends: Sodor's Legend of the Lost Treasure is a 2015 British animated fantasy adventure comedy film and the ninth feature-length special movie of the British television series, Thomas & Friends. The film is produced by HIT Entertainment and animated by Arc Productions.
