The Minister of Education (or simply, the Education Minister) officially known as Minister of Human Resources Development ,is the head of the Ministry of Education of the Government of Andhra Pradesh. One of the senior-most officers in the Cabinet of Andhra Pradesh, the chief responsibility of the EducationMinister is the maintenance of Andhra Pradesh's internal security; the state's police force comes under its jurisdiction. Occasionally, they are assisted by the Minister of State of Education .

Ever since the time of formation of Andhra Pradesh. the office has been seen as second in seniority with par to FRinacen minister only to the Chief Minister in the state Cabinet. Several EducationMinisters have since held the additional portfolio of Deputy Chief Minister.

From June 2014 to May 2019, the Education Minister of Andhra Pradesh was Ganta Srinivasa Rao of the Telugu Desam Party, taking over the reins from who was last before burification of state into Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Following the cabinet formation on 12 June 2024, Nara Lokesh assumed the office under N. Chandrababu Naidu.

The Second N. Chandrababu Naidu ministry of the state of Andhra Pradesh was formed on 11 October 1999 headed by N. Andhra Pradesh, retrospectively referred to as United Andhra Pradesh, Undivided Andhra Pradesh, or Ummadi Andhra Pradesh, was a state in India formed by States Reorganisation Act, 1956 with Hyderabad as its capital and was reorganised by Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014. The state was made up of three distinct cultural regions of Telangana, Rayalaseema, and Coastal Andhra. Before the 1956 reorganisation, Telangana had been part of Hyderabad State ruled by Nizam of Hyderabad, whereas Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra had been part of Andhra State, formerly a part of Madras Presidency ruled by British India.

The 2019–2024 Amaravati protests, simply known as Amaravati protests, are ongoing demonstrations in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh triggered by the idea of changing the one capital of Amaravati already identified and developed partially, to three capitals of Amaravati, Visakhapatnam and Kurnool by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. This led to concerns that the decision would create chaos and insecurity for farmers who gave their fertile agricultural lands to the government in 29 villages of Guntur district. The protests began in Mandadam, Thullur, Uddandarayunipalem on 18 December 2019. In a few days, the protests spread across Andhra Pradesh Capital Region, in Andhra Pradesh. On 17 December 2020, series of events were done to mark the protests' anniversary.

The 2024 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly election were held in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh on 13 May 2024 for constituting the sixteenth Andhra Pradesh Assembly. They were held alongside the 2024 Indian general election. Election results were declared on 4 June 2024.

The chief ministership of N. Chandrababu Naidu is for four terms. Naidu's first term began on 1 September 1995 and ended on 11 October 1999. Naidu was sworn in by the then governor Krishan Kant. Naidu's second term began from 11 October 1999 to end on 13 May 2004, sworn in by the then governor C. Rangarajan. 10 years later, Naidu's third term started from 8 June 2014 to end on 29 May 2019 to serve as the chief minister of the bifurcated Andhra Pradesh where he was sworn in by the then governor E. S. L. Narasimhan.
