This is a list of mayors of Long Beach, California .
The current mayor is Rex Richardson who has been in office since December 20, 2022. [1] He is the first black person to hold the position.
Prior its creation, the equivalent to the office of mayor was referred to as the President of the Board of Trustees. The title of mayor was officially created in 1908, following the completion of the new city charter. Until 1988, the mayor was indirectly elected by the city council from amongst themselves. The first mayor to be directly elected was Ernie Kell in 1988. [2]

A charter city, Long Beach is the 7th-most populous city in California, the 2nd-most populous city in Los Angeles County, and the largest city in California that is not a county seat.

Wrigley is a group of neighborhoods in Long Beach, California. It includes the neighborhoods North Wrigley, South Wrigley, Southeast Wrigley and Wrigley Heights. Its name derives from William Wrigley Jr., the owner and founder of the famed Wrigley Spearmint Gum Empire in Chicago. It was one of the first communities established in Long Beach. With the exception of Wrigley Heights, the area is developed throughout on a gridiron street pattern.
Robert Foster is an American former businessman and politician who served as the mayor of Long Beach, California. He was elected in a runoff election in 2006. Prior to serving as mayor, Foster climbed the ranks of Southern California Edison, becoming president in 2002. Foster was appointed to the California State University Board of Trustees in 1998 by Governor Pete Wilson. He had previously worked for the California State Senate as a consultant on state energy policy.

Robert Julio Garcia is a Peruvian American politician and educator serving as the U.S. representative for California's 42nd congressional district since 2023. A member of the Democratic Party, he served as the 28th mayor of Long Beach, California from 2014 to 2022. He was both the city's youngest and first elected openly LGBT mayor, as well as the first Latino to hold the office. He is the second person of color to be mayor of Long Beach, after Republican Eunice Sato, a Japanese-American who served from 1980 to 1982. A former member of the Long Beach City Council, he was vice mayor from 2012 to 2014.
Zaferia, sometimes Zafaria or Zefaria, is a neighborhood in the eastern part of Long Beach, California. It corresponds to the area around Anaheim Street and Redondo Avenue, specifically "Anaheim Street, between Temple and Loma Avenues, extending north of Pacific Coast Highway and south to 11th Street". It was founded as a small town, and shortly thereafter was served by the Pacific Electric Railway's Balboa Line, which had a station named "Zaferia" near Anaheim and Redondo at the junction with the 3rd Street/Redondo Avenue local.

Beverly Joy O'Neill is an American politician. She served as mayor of Long Beach, California from 1994 to 2006. She is the only three-term citywide elected mayor of Long Beach, having won her third term as a write-in candidate because of Long Beach's term limits law preventing a two-term mayor from appearing on the ballot.
