Carrefour Group, S.A., is a French multinational retail and wholesaling corporation headquartered in Massy, France. It operates a chain of hypermarkets, grocery stores and convenience stores. By 2024, the group had 14,000 stores in 40 countries. It is the seventh-largest retailer in the world by revenue.

Discount stores offer a retail format in which products are sold at prices that are in principle lower than an actual or supposed "full retail price". Discounters rely on bulk purchasing and efficient distribution to keep down costs.

In addition to Tops Supermarket, some branches are called Tops Superstore, Tops Market, Tops Market Food & Wine, Tops Daily and Central Food Hall. It is the largest supermarket chain in Thailand and operates 235 stores nationwide.

Market Place in Hong Kong, Cold Storage Fresh in Singapore and The Marketplace in the Philippines is a high-end supermarket chain owned by DFI Retail Group. The chain also has a joint venture in mainland China with Beijing Hualian Group called BHG Market Place and formerly ran stores in Taiwan until they were sold to Carrefour. The Malaysian chain called Mercató is owned by Macrovalue Sdn Bhd. after its acquisition of DFI Malaysian food retailing business in 2023.

TL Tradewinds Company Limited, formerly TL Tradewinds Ltd., Part., is a Thailand food company established in 2011 and headquartered in Surin City, Surin Province, Thailand. It manufactures lotus seeds snack products and produced food company brand is "Mai".

Retailing in South Korea consists of hypermarkets, department stores, flea markets, traditional markets, and underground shopping malls. Hypermarkets sell dry goods and groceries, similar to Western supercentres. Traditional markets are also popular throughout South Korea.
