Lohja sub-region was a subdivision of Uusimaa and one of the Sub-regions of Finland. The sub-region was abolished in 2009 and merged into the Helsinki sub-region. [1]

The former Province of Southern Finland in Finland was divided into six regions, 16 sub-regions, and 88 municipalities.

Sub-regions are divisions used for statistical purposes in Finland. The country is divided into 69 sub-regions, which are formed by groups of municipalities within the 19 regions of Finland. These sub-regions represent a LAU 1 level of division used in conjunction with the Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics.

Vihti is a municipality located in the Uusimaa region of province of Southern Finland, approximately 50 kilometres (30 mi) northwest of the capital city Helsinki. The municipality has a population of 28,812 and covers an area of 567.06 square kilometres (218.94 sq mi) of which 45.02 km2 (17.38 sq mi) is water. The population density is 55.19 inhabitants per square kilometre (142.9/sq mi). Its seat is Nummela, which is the most populated urban area in the municipality.

Uusimaa is a region of Finland. It borders the regions of Southwest Finland, Tavastia Proper (Kanta-Häme), Päijänne Tavastia (Päijät-Häme), and Kymenlaakso. Finland's capital and largest city, Helsinki, along with the surrounding Greater Helsinki area, are both contained in the region, and Uusimaa is Finland's most populous region. The population of Uusimaa is 1,734,000.

Greater Helsinki is the metropolitan area surrounding Helsinki, the capital city of Finland. It includes the smaller Capital Region urban area. The term "Helsinki Metropolitan Area" and the other terms used are not firmly established and may vary in different contexts.

Maalaiskunta (Finnish), landskommun (Swedish), "rural municipality", abbreviated mlk, was one of the four types of municipality in Finland in 1865–1976. Other types in 1865–1959 were city and market town, in 1960–1976 old city, new city and market town. Maalaiskunta was the most common type of municipality. In the 1977 reform, all municipalities were given fully equal legal standing. Previous maalaiskuntas associated with a city retained their name. For example, Rovaniemen maalaiskunta surrounded the city of Rovaniemi, but were independently governed. From 2009, no municipalities will carry this name any more, after the merger of Jyväskylä and Jyväskylän mlk.

Helsinki sub-region is a subdivision of Uusimaa in Finland. It is the most populous sub-region in Finland with over 1.6 million inhabitants. The sub-regions are used for statistical purposes. Statistics Finland uses the term Helsinki sub-region as SK011 Helsinki.

The Church of St. Lawrence is a church in Lohja, Finland. It is the third largest medieval parish church in Finland. The murals from early 16th century make it one of the most valuable medieval buildings in Finland. The rustic and naive murals depicted biblical stories for the illiterate population.

Nummi is a former municipality in the Uusimaa region of Finland. In 1981, Nummi merged with Pusula to form the municipality of Nummi-Pusula. In 2013, Nummi-Pusula in turn merged with the city of Lohja, and nowadays the Nummi village centre is the 103rd district of Lohja. Before the 1981 merger, the neighbouring municipalities of Nummi were Kiikala, Lohja, Pusula, Sammatti, Somero, Suomusjärvi and Vihti.

The 2019 World Wheelchair-B Curling Championship were held from November 27 to December 2 in Lohja, Finland. The championship was used to qualify three teams for the 2020 World Wheelchair Curling Championship in Wetzikon, Switzerland.
