Lokerpara Union (Bengali : লোকেরপাড়া ইউনিয়ন) is a union of Ghatail Upazila, Tangail District, Bangladesh. It is situated 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) northeast of Bhuapur, 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) west of Ghatail and 33 kilometres (21 mi) north of Tangail, the district headquarters.
Bengali, also known by its endonym Bangla, is an Indo-Aryan language primarily spoken by the Bengalis in South Asia. Ghatail is an upazila located in Tangail District, Bangladesh. Tangail is a district (zila) in the central region of Bangladesh. It is the largest district of Dhaka division by area and second largest by population. The population of Tangail zilla is about 3.8 million and its area is 3,414.28 km². The main city of the district is Tangail. It is surrounded by Jamalpur District on the north, the Dhaka and Manikganj Districts on the south, the Mymensingh and Gazipur on the east, and the Sirajganj on the west.
According to the 2011 Bangladesh census, Lokerpara Union had 6,006 households and a population of 23,832. The literacy rate (age 7 and over) was 45.2% (male: 47.6%, female: 42.9%). [1]
In 2011, the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics, conducted a national census in Bangladesh, which provided a provisional estimate of the total population of the country as 142,319,000. The previous decennial census was the 2001 census. Data were recorded from all of the districts and upazilas and main cities in Bangladesh including statistical data on population size, households, sex and age distribution, marital status, economically active population, literacy and educational attainment, religion, number of children etc. Bangladesh and India also conducted their first-ever joint census of areas along their border in 2011.
