Lokomotiv (Russian: Локомотив; English: Locomotive) or Lokomotiv Voluntary Sports Society (VSS) is the Russian sports club and a member of the International Railway Sports Association. Before the collapse of the Soviet Union, VSS Lokomotiv consisted of many clubs in a variety of sports which were all named "Lokomotiv" with an addition of the town/city name from which the club was from (f.e. Lokomotiv Moscow). In the Eastern Bloc countries many teams associated with the railway industry (but not part of VSS Lokomotiv) were also named or renamed "Lokomotiv".

The Russian Championship XVII was the seventeenth season of the Russian Championship league, the major rugby league tournament for semi-professional clubs in Russia, taking place in 2007. Eight teams from across Russia took part in the competition. The league is governed by the Russian Rugby League Federation.

Russian championship among amateur football clubs (III division) (Russian: Первенство России среди любительских футбольных клубов (III дивизион)) is the fifth overall tier of the Russian football league system. Sometimes it is called Amateur Football League, after the organization that holds the competition (Russian: Любительская Футбольная Лига). The league has amateur/semi-pro status. At the end of each season ten teams are promoted from the Amateur Football League to the fully-professional Second Division Division B, located one step above (even though often the winning teams voluntarily choose to stay in the AFL due to higher financial commitments in the Second Division). Bottom-ranked clubs in the first divisions of Moscow, Moscow Oblast, and Siberia may be or are relegated to the second (fifth tier). The league is divided into ten regional divisions. From 1994 to 1997 a professional fourth-level Russian Third League existed. Its teams moved back to amateur competition in 1998. FC Zenit Penza is a Russian football club based in Penza. It played professionally in 1948–49, 1961–1973, 1990–1999, 2002–2008, 2010–2017 and from 2021. It played on the second-highest level in the Soviet First League in 1948–1949 and 1960–1962, where its best result was 8th place in Zone 3 in 1961. In 2009, it played in the Amateur Football League which it won and was promoted to the Russian Second Division for 2010. It dropped out the third-tier PFL during the winter break of the 2017–18 season. It re-entered the third tier for the 2021–22 season.
