The International Baseball Federation (IBAF) is the former worldwide governing body of baseball. It has since been superseded by the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC),and continues to exist as the WBSC's baseball division. Between 1944 and 1975,it was known by its Spanish-language name,as the Federación Internacional de Béisbol Amateur,or FIBA.

William Paul "Dutch" Fehring was an American football and baseball player,coach,and administrator. Fehring was president of the United States Baseball Federation,and briefly,the World Amateur Baseball Federation,better known as FEMBA,during its split from the International Baseball Federation.

Ryan Cole Lavarnway is an American-Israeli former professional baseball catcher. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Boston Red Sox,Baltimore Orioles,Atlanta Braves,Oakland Athletics,Pittsburgh Pirates,Cincinnati Reds,Miami Marlins,and Cleveland Indians. In international competition,he plays for Team Israel,and competed for them in the World Baseball Classic and in the Olympics.

It was established in 2013 by the merger of the International Baseball Federation (IBAF) and International Softball Federation (ISF). Under the WBSC's organizational structure,the IBAF and ISF now serve as the confederation's baseball and softball divisions,respectively. Each division is governed by an executive committee,while the WBSC is governed by an executive board.
The WBSC Premier12 is the international baseball tournament organized by the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC),featuring the 12 highest-ranked national baseball teams in the world. The first tournament was held by Taiwan and Japan in November 2015. The second tournament,2019 WBSC Premier12,was held in November 2019,and served as a qualifier for two teams for baseball at the 2020 Summer Olympics.

The first six opening round games were played at Fukushima Azuma Baseball Stadium in an effort to highlight Fukushima's recovery from the 2011 Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster,while the remaining games were played at Yokohama Stadium. Softball will not return in 2024.

Baseball5 (B5) is an internationally played safe haven game with many of the same rules as baseball and softball,which is governed alongside those sports by the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC).
Sashel Aitiana Palacios Barajas is an American softball catcher of Mexican descent. After playing college softball for Arizona State,she embarked on a professional career in 2018. She also helped the Mexico national team qualify for the 2020 Summer Olympics,which finished the tournament in fourth place.
