Mai Kuraki is a Japanese pop and R&B singer-songwriter and record producer. After releasing her US debut single "Baby I Like" in 1999, Kuraki signed with Giza Studio and released her Japanese debut single "Love, Day After Tomorrow" in 1999. In 2000, she released her debut album, Delicious Way, which debuted at number-one and sold over 2.2 million copies in its first week. The album has spawned four top-three singles, "Love, Day After Tomorrow", "Stay by My Side", "Secret of My Heart", and "Never Gonna Give You Up". Eventually, the album sold over 3.5 million copies nationwide and became the best-selling album in Japan in 2000, and has been the ninth best-selling album in Japan of all-time.

The act of revealing one's Korean ethnicity is called “coming out.” Nevertheless, there were South Korean singers like Cho Yong-pil and Kye Un-seuk, in the 1970s and 1980s who were household names in Japan, despite not being Zainichi. Today, there are also a number of non-Zainichi Korean artists such as BoA, Crystal Kay, TVXQ, BIGBANG, KARA, and BTS who have found chart and album success in Japan.

The album's background and development started in mid-to-late 1999 after her American debut single "Baby I Like", where East West Records and Giza Studio sent her back to Japan. Delicious Deli Records was a Japanese record label owned by Universal Music Japan. It originally founded in 2009 under Universal Japan's western division, Universal International. Its headquarters were located in Akasaka, Tokyo, Japan. In August 2014, the label became an imprint of Virgin Music. In 2016, Universal Japan announced Delicious Deli would merge with Virgin Music.

The record was released 1 year and 3 months after their previous album Magic. This is the first time that Dreams Come True, who have been releasing albums at a pace of one a year, have released an album that came out more than a full year after its predecessor. Delicious was also their first original album with 13 songs. The MiniDisc edition of the album was released on March 18, 1995, one week in advance of the CD and cassette edition.
