PopMatters called the album "a quick and dirty blast of lo-fi garage rock that would feel right at home on both a Nuggets compilation and a late-70s NYC punk club." [2] AllMusic called it "both undeniably catchy and just a little strange--power pop confection colliding with psycho-trash style." [7] Tiny Mix Tapes called it "stripped-bare, no-frills garage punk." [8] SF Weekly declared it "a sonic wad of doo-wop and bubblegum-punk-pop that's smashed up and oozing for a rechew somewhere beneath an autoshop desk in Rock 'n' Roll High School." [9]

Raw Power 1973 studio album by Iggy and the Stooges

Raw Power is the third studio album by American rock band the Stooges, released on February 7, 1973 by Columbia Records. The album departed from the "groove-ridden, feel-based songs" of the band's first two records in favor of a more anthemic hard rock approach inspired by new guitarist James Williamson, who co-wrote the album's eight songs with singer Iggy Pop. Pop produced the recording sessions himself and David Bowie assisted with post-production work, though the team were allotted only one day to mix the album and the resulting fidelity was poor. Later reissues have attempted to either correct or enhance the original mix, most notably Pop's 1997 remix which became notorious for its extreme volume and compression.

The Evens (album) 2005 studio album by The Evens

The Evens is the self-titled debut album from The Evens, a duo formed by Ian MacKaye on baritone guitar and Amy Farina on drums. Consisting of songs that the pair had been writing since August 2001, the songs would be performed live several times and even demoed before being recorded at Inner Ear Studios with Don Zientara during the summer of 2004. A reaction against what MacKaye had perceived to be the commercialization of rock music driven by the industry's "idea of youth", the album's "post-post-hardcore" sound is more stripped-down, minimal and personal in comparison to his work with Fugazi. The more direct and politically-charged lyrics, penned by both members, deal mainly with "the loss of community and the struggle to recapture it", though some of them feature romantic themes as well.
