Lucas Puig (born January 31, 1987 [1] ) is a French professional skateboarder. Puig's skateboarding stance is regular and he is a member of the Palace Skateboards team.
Puig, whose ancestors come from Catalonia, grew up in Toulouse, France [2] and commenced skateboarding during his early adolescence.
Puig was under fourteen years of age when he began skateboarding with Cliché Skateboards. [3]
Puig has been sponsored by Cliche for the majority of his career and was an integral member of the brand's team. The company's brand manager, Al Boglio (a former sponsored skateboarder from Australia), has described Puig in the following manner: "Lucas has been with us since ... yeah, for eleven years now. His skateboarding's unique, and we're just stoked that he's, just, kept by Cliche—he loves what we do. We've been lucky enough to have, you know, to have met Lucas and we're lucky enough to have him on board today, umm, and for a few years to go, for sure, you know, he's fucking on fire!" [3] In January 2013, Puig identified the Cliche videos, Bon Apetit and Freedom Fries, as those videos that contain his most significant video parts. [4]
As a Cliche team member, Puig was the first professional skateboarder to film and release a "Pro Spotlight" video part for Transworld Skateboarding magazine's digital platform. [5]
As of January 2013, Puig, together with the rest of the Cliche team, is filming for the Bon Voyage video, which will be filmed and directed by Boris Proust. [4] [6] [7]
Puig was featured in the inaugural full-length Lakai video, Fully Flared, [8] a video part that Puig described as "the biggest part" in January 2013. [4] Puig was part of the shoe brand's French contingency, named "The French Connection", alongside JB Gillet. [9] In 2008, Puig was featured simultaneously performing skateboarding and soccer tricks in a commercial for his signature shoe model that was released in spring 2009. [10]
Puig filmed a promotional video for the release of his first signature shoe model with the adidas brand that documented both him and his skateboard crew undertaking a road trip throughout parts of Europe. [11] In January 2013, Puig publicly revealed a collaborative adidas signature shoe model with Cliche, in recognition of Cliche's fifteen-year anniversary. Puig explained, "I been to Germany, to the big office, and we start to work on this, and they really ask me what I want, what I like to skate ... and they're, like, super good people, you know? ... I was, like, super stoked, you know? It was pretty much the first sample that they give me ... it's good to skate, lasts long; it's a good skate shoe." [4]

Lucas Puig, who is without a doubt the greatest skater of the Trilogy [skateboarding video] mold working today. (This means that he restricts himself to low impact street spots and still pushes switch mongo. In other words, he is relatable to the common man because he skates on things that we can all skate, except at a significantly higher skill level.) [14]
In January 2013, while touring with the Cliche team, Puig provided a "Guest Talk" interview for Tokyo, Japan's VHS magazine, in which he explained that there "is no point" in trying to be American (including relocating to the US), as Puig believes that he will always be seen as a "European" skateboarder. [4]
During his time as a professional skateboarder, Puig started a company entitled Hélas Caps—the brand is primarily a cap brand, but also sells beanies and sweaters, as is displayed on the "Products" section of the Hélas website in January 2013. [15] Puig revealed in January 2013 that he started the company in 2011 with a close friend who he met through skateboarding; Puig also stated the company is "small" and "just for the homies [close friends]". [4]
Puig has also filmed, edited and uploaded video segments that he has produced specifically for the brand, including a four-minute solo part. [16] A video segment published on January 10, 2013, featured Puig skateboarding with his friends at a "do-it-yourself" ("DIY") skate location in France; [17] an earlier video piece that Puig produced for adidas, Puig's shoe sponsor, depicted the construction of the space, once again involving Puig and his friends. [11] The company has a Vimeo channel, but, as of January 2013, only one video, "Timi Mc Meel for Helas Caps", has been uploaded. [18]
Puig made his first video game appearance in EA's Skate It, [1] in which he is a playable character. He also appears in EA's Skate 2 and Skate 3, as a playable character, and his participation occurred while he was a representative of the Lakai skateboard shoe brand. [19] [20] Puig had previously expressed his dislike for skateboarding games, claiming that he would "never want to be a part of the Tony Hawk universe", but was persuaded by the experience of playing the first installment in the EA Skate franchise. As of mid-2009, Puig resides in the location of his birth, Toulouse, France. He has revealed that when he is not skateboarding, "I chill. I try and hang out with people who have nothing to do with skateboarding just to talk about something else for a change." [22] Puig is also well known within the skateboarding community for his love of gangster hip hop music from the West coast of the United States (US) (Puig has stated that two of his favorite artists are the now-deceased The Notorious B.I.G., also referred to as "Biggie", and Tupac Shakur)
Anthony Frank Hawk, nicknamed Birdman, is an American professional skateboarder, entrepreneur, and the owner of the skateboard company Birdhouse. A pioneer of modern vertical skateboarding, Hawk completed the first documented "900" skateboarding trick in 1999. He also licensed a skateboarding video game series named after him published by Activision that same year. He retired from competing professionally in 2003 and is regarded as one of the most influential skateboarders of all time.

Geoffrey Joseph Rowley Jr. is an English professional skateboarder, former co-owner of Flip Skateboards and owner of the Civilware Service Corporation. He received Thrasher Magazine's "Skater of the Year" award in 2000.
Danny Way is an American professional skateboarder, company owner and rallycross driver who has been awarded Thrasher magazine's "Skater of the Year" award twice. He is known for extreme stunts, such as jumping into a skateboard ramp from a helicopter; that was featured on the cover of Transworld Skateboarding magazine. One of his more notable stunts was jumping the Great Wall of China on a skateboard via megaramp.
Guy Mariano is an American professional skateboarder. Mariano first gained recognition at the age of 14 for his video part in the Blind Skateboards video Video Days (1991).
Michael Shawn Carroll is a professional skateboarder from Daly City, California, United States. He is the co-founder and vice-president of Girl Skateboards and the co-founder of Lakai Limited Footwear. He was also instrumental in the creation of the Chocolate Skateboards subdivision of Girl. Furthermore, Carroll is known for being in the vanguard of innovative, technical, and stylish street skateboarding in the early 1990s and beyond. The success of skateboarding videos like Hokus Pokus, Ban This! and Video Days firmly ensconced street as the premier variation of skating.
Mark Gonzales, also known as "Gonz" and "The Gonz", is an American professional skateboarder and artist. He is known as the godfather of modern street skateboarding and was named the "Most Influential Skateboarder of All Time" by the Transworld Skateboarding magazine in December 2011.

Colin McKay is a Canadian professional skateboarder who is widely recognized for his involvement with the original Plan B Skateboards "superteam" as well as the subsequent relaunch of the brand in 2005.
Fully Flared is a street skateboarding video by the Lakai footwear company, featuring video parts from its team riders. The film is directed by Ty Evans, Spike Jonze, and Cory Weincheque. In 2007, it won "Best Video of the Year" at the Transworld Skateboarding Awards, while Guy Mariano won both the "Best Street" and "Best Video Part" awards at the same event. It was one of the first skateboarding videos to use high-definition cameras. The film has become a skateboarding culture icon as the apex of professional skateboarding.
Eric Koston is an American professional skateboarder and company owner. He has been featured in the Tony Hawk's video game series and the Electronic Arts (EA) video games Skate 2 and Skate 3. Koston co-owns both Fourstar Clothing and the skatepark/website "The Berrics".
The Berrics is a private indoor skatepark owned by professional skateboarders Steve Berra and Eric Koston. It is also a website providing content filmed in the skatepark, as well other skateboard-related media. The facility's name is a portmanteau of the owners' names.

Cliché Skateboards was a skateboard company based in Lyon, France, and distributed by the American company Dwindle Distribution. The company was established in 1997 by French professional skateboarder Jeremie Daclin. In 2001, Cliché was purchased by the France-based Salomon Group which in 2005 became a part of Amer Sports. In 2009, US-based Dwindle Distribution purchased the company from the Salomon Group. In November 2016, Dwindle announced that they would be discontinuing the brand.
