Lucrezia Ruggiero (born 7 June 2000) is an Italian artistic swimmer. She won one gold medal each at the 2022 World Aquatics Championships in the mixed duet technical routine and the mixed duet free routine. At the 2022 European Aquatics Championships, she won gold medals in the mixed duet technical routine and the mixed duet free routine.

Background

Ruggiero was born 7 June 2000 in Rome, Italy, where she trains and competes for sports club Gruppo Sportivo Fiamme Oro. [1] She has been training with her professional artistic swimming partner for mixed duet events, Giorgio Minisini, since 2019. [2]

Career

2021 Artistic Swimming World Series

At the 2021 FINA Artistic Swimming World Series leg held in June in Barcelona, Spain, Ruggiero and her partner Giorgio Minisini won the silver medal in the mixed duet free routine with a score of 88.6332 points. [3] For their performance, the duo chose to choreograph their routine to the song "Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zeppelin. [4]

On the second day of artistic swimming at the 2022 World Aquatics Championships, contested in June in Budapest, Hungary, Ruggiero and her partner Giorgio Minisini scored 88.5734 points in the preliminaries of the mixed duet technical routine to qualify for the final ranking first. [5] [6] Day four, 20 June, the duo won the gold medal with a score of 89.2685 points, finishing 2.6746 points ahead of silver medalists Tomoka Sato and Yotaro Sato of Japan and 2.8260 points ahead of bronze medalists Shi Haoyu and Zhang Yiyao of China. [7] [2] [8] [9] Four days later, in the preliminaries of the mixed duet free routine, she and Minisini advanced to the final with a score of 90.5000 points. [10] The following day, 25 June, they won the gold medal with a score of 90.9667 points and choreography to music by Italian band Måneskin in the theme of "Risorgimento". [11] [12] [13] [14] [15]

2022 European Aquatics Championships

For her first of two events at the 2022 European Aquatics Championships, held in Rome in August, Ruggiero and her partner Giorgio Minisini won the gold medal in the mixed duet free routine with a score of 89.7333 points, placing over four points ahead of silver medalists Pau Ribes and Emma García of Spain. [16] [17] [18] In her second event, she and Giorgio Minisini won the gold medal in the mixed duet technical routine, this time outscoring the Spaniards Pau Ribes and Emma García by over five points with a final mark of 89.3679 points. 2023 Artistic Swimming World Cup

For the stop of the 2023 Artistic Swimming World Cup held in March in Markham, Canada, Ruggiero and her partner Linda Cerruti won the gold medal in the women's duet free routine with a final mark of 321.2667 points, outscoring the silver medalists from Ukraine by over 25 points and the bronze medalists from Israel by over 35 points. In 2022, he became the first male artistic swimmer to win a gold medal at a LEN European Aquatics Championships in a men's solo event, winning the gold medal in the solo technical routine.

Gustavo Adolfo Sánchez is a Colombian artistic swimmer. Javier Enrique Ruisanchez Torres Zayas is a Puerto Rican artistic swimmer and former pool swimmer. He is a nine-time medalist at the FINA Artistic Swimming World Series, winning eight medals at the 2022 FINA Artistic Swimming World Series. At the 2022 World Aquatics Championships, he and his partner Nicolle Torrens became the first artistic swimmers representing Puerto Rico to qualify for, and compete in, a final of a mixed gender duet event at a FINA World Aquatics Championships, finishing eleventh in the mixed duet free routine and twelfth in the mixed duet technical routine.

Tomoka Sato is a Japanese artistic swimmer. At the 2022 World Aquatics Championships, she and her younger brother Yotaro Sato became the first duo representing Japan to win a silver medal in the mixed duet technical routine, they also became the first representing Japan to win a silver medal in the mixed duet free routine. She also won a silver in the team technical routine and a bronze medal in the team free routine at the same Championships. Earlier in the year, she won a gold medal in the mixed duet technical routine and a gold medal and a silver medal in the mixed duet free routine as part of the 2022 FINA Artistic Swimming World Series. At the 2018 World Junior Artistic Swimming Championships, she won three bronze medals in team events.

Lorenzo Galossi is an Italian competitive swimmer. He is the world junior record in the long course 800-metre freestyle and the European junior record holder in the long course 400-metre freestyle. At the 2022 European Aquatics Championships, he won the bronze medal in the 800-metre freestyle. At the 2022 European Junior Championships, he won medals in three individual events, the gold medal each in the 400-metre freestyle and the 800-metre freestyle and the silver medal in the 200-metre freestyle.

Zhang Yiyao is a Chinese artistic swimmer. At the 2022 World Aquatics Championships, she won a bronze medal in the mixed duet technical routine and a bronze medal in the mixed duet free routine. In 2018, she won two silver medals in mixed duet events at the World Junior Championships and four gold medals, two in mixed duet events and two in team events, at the leg of the 2018 Artistic Swimming World Series held in Beijing.

The Men's solo technical routine competition of the 2022 European Aquatics Championships was held on 12 August 2022.

Ivan Martinović is a Serbian artistic swimmer. In 2022, he became the first man to win a bronze medal in a solo male artistic swimming event at a LEN European Aquatics Championships, winning the bronze medal in the solo technical routine at the 2022 European Aquatics Championships.

Fernando Díaz del Río Soto is a Spanish artistic swimmer. He was the first man to win a silver medal in a solo male artistic swimming event at a LEN European Aquatics Championships, winning the first silver medal in the solo technical routine, and afterwards the first silver medal in the solo free routine, at the 2022 European Aquatics Championships. He is an eight-time medalist at FINA Artistic Swimming World Series, including four gold medals, one silver medal, and three bronze medals spanning solo and mixed duet routines.

Fabiano Ferreira is a Brazilian artistic swimmer. He and his partner Gabriela Regly competed at the 2022 World Aquatics Championships, placing 8th in the final of the mixed duet free routine and 9th in the final of the mixed duet technical routine.

Matteo Santoro is an Italian diver. At the 2022 World Aquatics Championships, he won a silver medal in the 3 metre mixed synchronised springboard. At the LEN European Aquatics Championships, he won a gold medal in the 3 metre mixed synchronised springboard in 2021 at 14 years of age and a bronze medal in the same event in 2022 at 15 years of age. He is a five-time World Junior Championships gold medalist and a four-time European Junior Championships gold medalist.
