The Luff Award is awarded by the American Philatelic Society (commonly known as the APS) for meritorious contributions to philately by living philatelists.
The award was established in 1940 in memory of John N. Luff, distinguished philatelist and president of the APS from 1907 to 1909.
The recipient of the award must be a living philatelist. Three Luff Awards are usually presented each year – one each for:
Luff Awards were presented by the society, starting in 1940 and continuing to this day. During some years, awards were not presented for various reasons.

The American Philatelic Society (APS) is the largest nonprofit stamp collecting foundation of philately in the world. Both the membership and interests of the society are worldwide.
August Dietz was a philatelist, editor and publisher, who specialized in the study of mail and postal history of the Confederate States of America.
The American Philatelic Society Hall of Fame award honors deceased philatelists who have contributed significantly to the field of national and/or international philately.
Stanley Bryan Ashbrook, of Kentucky, was a distinguished American philatelist who was known for his extensive studies of early United States stamps and postal history. He was usually known as Stanley B. Ashbrook.
John Robert Boker Jr. was an American philatelist who amassed some of the most prestigious collections of 19th century stamps ever seen by stamp collectors. Before his death in 2003, the Collectors Club of New York declared him, in 1996, to be the "outstanding philatelist of the last half of the twentieth century."
Philip Silver (1909–1999), of New York City, was a philatelist who specialized in the field of air mail stamps, known as aerophilately. He studied air mail stamps and postal history, and wrote extensively on the subject.
Ernest Anthony Kehr, of New York City, was a promoter and spokesman of stamp collecting, creating interest for the hobby using all media at the time, including radio, television, books, articles and newspapers columns devoted to philately; an American philatelist who was added to the Roll of Distinguished Philatelists in 1975.
Lester George Brookman, of Minnesota, was a stamp dealer who was an expert on 19th century United States postage stamps and postal history.
Solomon Glass, of Baltimore, Maryland, was a philatelist who was recognized as a foremost expert in United States postage stamps of the 20th century.
Dr. Robert Laurenson Dashiell Davidson, of Missouri, was an active philatelist in the Missouri area, and also at the national level.
Barbara Ruth Mueller was an American philatelist who remained, all her life, dedicated to the study of American philately. Her studies led her to a career of writing significant philatelic literature.
Peter P. McCann, of University Park, Florida, is a philatelist who has supported the hobby of philately on a national scale. For his varied services to the American Philatelic Society (APS) over several decades, he was awarded in 2008 the Luff Award for outstanding service to the society.
David Louis Lidman was an American writer of philatelic literature in journals, books and newspapers.
Calvin Waters Christian, of California, was a philatelist known to his fellow philatelists as “Bert.”
Richard McPherren (Sandy) Cabeen was a well-known philatelist in the Chicago area, and one of the foremost writers of philatelic literature. He married Blema Eulaila Meagher on October 28, 1910.
Hugh Massey Clark, of New York City, was a noted philatelist and publisher. He was married to Theresa Maria Clark.
Robert P. Odenweller is an American philatelist who is a member of the National Postal Museum's Council of Philatelists and a signatory to the Roll of Distinguished Philatelists. He is a member of The Collectors Club of New York, and an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Philatelic Society London and the Royal Philatelic Society of New Zealand. From 1996 to 2000 he was President of the Grand Prix Club.
Cheryl R. Ganz, FRPSL is an American philatelist who was appointed to the Roll of Distinguished Philatelists in 2018.
Yamil H. Kouri Jr. is an American philatelist who signed the Roll of Distinguished Philatelists in 2020. He serves as President of the Postal History Society.
Patricia Stilwell Walker is an American philatelist who signed the Roll of Distinguished Philatelists in 2022.
