Lumiere TV (LTV) was a former pay television service based in Cyprus and broadcast in more than 67 European and African countries. It broadcast movies, series, documentaries and social TV shows. It was owned by LTV Group Ltd.

Availability

Repeaters had been set up across 67 countries that enabled more than 80% of the population to receive these services. Lumiere TV was originally available on the Nova platform but following a financial dispute, it moved over to rival Athina Sat in July 2006. [1] As of March 3, 2008, LTV was once again available through Nova, following a new agreement that was signed between the two companies. [2]

The channel is no longer available through Athina Sat, which ceased operations in March 2008. It was also available through IPTV providers CytaVision and PrimeTel until its final closure and liquidation in August 2014. [3]

Channels and content

Lumiere TV operated eight multiplex channels:

LTVxs.jpg LTV was a 24-hour channel which broadcast entertainment, news and sports programming, as well as live football matches of the Cypriot Champions League. It also broadcast blockbuster movies, feature films, top-rated television series, lifestyle programmes, reality shows and talk-shows. The sports section included live football matches and sports programmes.
LTV1 xs.jpg LTV1 was a 24-hour channel and it focused on the live transmission of sports events and sports-related programmes. The entertainment content involved Nickelodeon's children's programmes and a vast range of animation movies which were broadcast daily.
LTV2 xs.jpg LTV2 was a 24-hour channel and included prime TV series and mini-series from the biggest American studios. Movies and programs of general interest were also included.
LTV3xs.jpg LTV3 was a 24-hour channel which broadcast premieres of blockbuster films and TV-movies, but also old favourite movies. The channel also included a daily adult zone.
LTV Sports 1 xs.jpg LTV Sports 1 was a 24-hour channel which broadcast live transmissions, highlights and sports shows for big football events, such as the Marfin Laiki Championship, the Coca-Cola Cup, the Barclays Premier League, the German Bundesliga and the Spanish Primera Division. Also, it broadcast basketball and tennis games, golf, motor sports events and as well as the NBA.
LTV Sports 2 xs.jpg LTV Sports 2 aimed to complement the LTV Sports 1 channel in cases of simultaneous or multiple event transmissions, such as the Barclays Premier League, the Spanish Primera Division, the Greek Superleague, and others. It also broadcast live tennis events and weekly football highlights.

Lumiere TV featured hit movies from Greece and abroad, including Hollywood blockbusters. It also aired hit TV series from the US and it broadcast over 15 premieres each month with new release films being added continuously.

Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation Public radio and television outlet

Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation, or CyBC, is Cyprus' public broadcasting service. It transmits island-wide on four radio and two domestic television channels, and uses one satellite channel for the Cypriot diaspora. It also transmits on a separate high definition channel.

Alfa TV Former pay TV service in Cyprus

Alfa TV was a former pay television service available in Cyprus, that broadcast sports and children's programming as well as the odd film. It was owned by Alfa TV Ltd. and was launched in 1998. Alfa TV was one of only 2 pay-TV services in Cyprus, the other being Lumiere TV with whom Alfa TV had a programming agreement. Some of the programs on Alfa TV were broadcast incorporation with well-known pay-TV channels, and specifically with those of MultiChoice.

Veronica TV Commercial TV channel in the Netherlands

Veronica is a Dutch commercial television channel currently a part of Talpa TV. The channel was launched as TV10 Gold on 1 May 1995, then became TV10, Fox, Fox 8 and V8, before becoming Veronica on 20 September 2003. The channel is dedicated to young adults and the male audience.

ComedyMax is a former television channel in Turkey, which broadcasts worldwide hit TV series as Turkish subtitled. It is exclusively available for Digiturk satellite package subscribers.

Viasat 3 is a Hungarian TV channel. It began broadcasting on October 23, 2000.

Play4 is a Belgian-Flemish commercial television channel. It is part of SBS Belgium and production company Woestijnvis.

Athina Sat

Athina Sat was a Cypriot digital satellite pay television service owned by the limited company of the same name. Launched in May 2005 and was the first Cypriot-owned DTH satellite provider in Cyprus. It was one of two satellite platforms, the other being Nova.

Fox Crime is a television network, launched by the Fox Networks Group, which airs across several countries of Europe, Africa and Asia such as Italy, Portugal, Serbia, Bulgaria, and Turkey. Its basic programming include numerous television series, sitcoms and movies, among others, related to crime, horror and investigation.

Television in Cyprus was introduced in 1956. In 1957, CyBC was created. Private TV was introduced on 26 April 1992, by Logos TV which started its transmissions in stereo and Teletext from day one. The first private TV station of Cyprus was owned and operated by the Church of Cyprus. In August 1995, the same station introduced the first internet service provider in Cyprus, LOGOSNET. The Republic of Cyprus currently uses the PAL colour system and has converted terrestrial transmissions to digital on 1 July 2011, in line with EU policy. Because of the political division of the island, television companies are also divided.

Fox Crime was a Southeast Asian pay television channel, owned by Fox Networks Group Asia Pacific, a subsidiary of Disney International Operations. The channel focuses on crime and investigation series programs. In India, Fox Crime Asia was replaced with its Indian counterpart in September 2012. Fox Crime India was shut down in July 2015 due to low ratings.

Fox Life is a Greek pay-television channel owned by the Fox Networks Group, which launched on 1 December 2008 and is currently available to the subscribers of Nova Greece, Cosmote TV, Vodafone TV, and Wind Vision. From 15 October 2012, it started broadcasting in Cyprus too with the same schedule as in Greece and it is currently available to the subscribers of Nova Cyprus, Cablenet, MTN TV, and CytaVision.

Universal Channel (Greek TV channel)

Universal Channel was a Greek television network, owned by Universal Networks International, a division of NBCUniversal. It debuted in Greece on May 5, 2008, exclusively on OTE TV, the pay-TV service of OTE, one of the major telecommunication groups in Southeastern Europe. Later, the channel broadcast in Cyprus via PrimeTel, Cablenet and CytaVision. The Channel hosted the branded block Sci Fi, the brand dedicated to science fiction, horror, fantasy and paranormal of NBCUniversal. Sci-Fi aired every Saturday from 9 PM to 1:10 AM and every Sunday starting from around 4 to 9 PM.

AXN (Portuguese TV channel)

AXN is a Portuguese pay television channel. It is the Portuguese version of the AXN network, owned by Sony. It was a Cabovisão exclusive in its beginnings, but now it is available in all operators and platforms. It's one of the most watched channels on pay-TV in Portugal, competing with FOX, SIC Notícias, Canal Panda, Disney Channel and Canal Hollywood.

National Geographic is a subscription television network, launched in Greece in 2001 by the Fox Networks Group. The channel features documentaries with factual content involving nature, science, culture, and history. Shows can be watched in English with Greek subtitles.
