Lunar New Year Fireworks Display in Hong Kong is an annual event to celebrate the Chinese New Year in Hong Kong. It is held on The Second Day of Lunar New Year above the sky of Victoria Harbour in the evening.
In 1982, to celebrate its 150th anniversary, Jardine Matheson sponsored the first fireworks display event. The event received good public response. Since then, it became an annual event of Chinese New Year as a greeting to Hong Kong citizens.
The fireworks were cancelled from 2020 to 2023 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2024 fireworks are therefore the first in five years. [1]
Fireworks shows similar to this event are also held in Victoria Harbour on the common calendar's New Year's Eve on December 31 and the anniversary of Hong Kong's handover from the United Kingdom to China that happened on June 30, 1997.

2015 Lunar New Year Cup, also known as the Lunar New Year AET Cup 2015 due to sponsorship reason, is the annual football event held in Hong Kong to celebrate the Chinese New Year. South China of Hong Kong Premier League were authorised by the Hong Kong Football Association to hold the 2015 event; and New York Cosmos of North American Soccer League were invited to participate. It was the first time an American football team had joined this event. The football march between these two teams was played in Hong Kong Stadium on 4 February 2015, the Chinese New Year Day. The Cup was won by New York Cosmos after a penalty shootout.

Celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Communist Party, or the Centennial of the Chinese Communist Party, were held on 1 July 2021 in Beijing to celebrate the centennial of the founding of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), which has been the sole governing political party of the People's Republic of China (PRC) since 1949. CCP General Secretary Xi Jinping, as the guest of honor, delivered a speech and presented the Order of July the First order of honour to CCP members who have made significant contributions. Premier Li Keqiang served as the official host of the event.
