Gjilan or Gnjilane is the sixth most populous city in Kosovo and it serves as both a municipality and the administrative center of the Gjilan District. The municipality has a population of 90,178 with approximately 54,239 inhabitants residing in the urban area.
Skënder Hyseni is a Kosovar Albanian politician who is a former Minister of Internal Affairs and a former foreign minister of Kosovo. Hyseni graduated at the University of Pristina,branch of English Language and Literature in 1979. Hyseni stayed for a short period of time for study purposes in Bloomsburg State College-USA (1978) and in Aberdeen University-Scotland (1986).
Local elections were held in Kosovo on 15 November and 13 December 2009. These were the first local elections to be held after Kosovo declared independence in February 2008. The elections were to elect mayors and municipal councils in 36 municipalities,and were contested by 37 ethnic Albanian parties and 21 Serbian lists. All citizens with a valid ID were able to vote in the elections.
Shpend Ali Ahmeti is a Kosovo Albanian politician who served as the mayor of Pristina. He was leader of the New Spirit Party,which merged into Vetëvendosje in 2011,and served as their vice chairman. However,after internal disputes he left the party in 2018 to become the leader of the Social Democratic Party of Kosovo. In 2019 he became an independent politician.

Gramoz Aliu,known professionally as Mozzik,is a Kosovo-Albanian rapper and singer. Born and raised in Ferizaj,Aliu began to make music at an early age before pursuing a professional career as a rapper. He rose to significant attention in Albanian-speaking countries after signing contract with On Records. Aliu later earned popularity in German-speaking Europe,as he collaborated with his wife and fellow rapper Loredana. Their collaborations achieved commercial success in Austria,Germany and Switzerland,and topped the charts in the aforementioned countries. Due to his success,he signed contract with Sony Music Germany and announced his debut studio album to be released in 2020.
Përparim Rama is a Kosovo Albanian architect and urban planner serving as the current Mayor of Pristina since 7 December 2021. His work has been published in London Building Design Magazine and several other international design magazines.
