Ligia Barrios, better known as Lya Barrioz, is a Nicaraguan singer, producer, actress and an environmentalism activist, co-founder of S.O.S. BOSAWAS (a green movement that advocates for one of the world's most important biosphere reserves: Bosawás, located in Nicaragua).
Barrioz took her first artistic steps in 1989 when she won 3rd place and "Most Applauded Song" in the Festival de la Canción Romántica Nicaragüense "Rafael Gastón Pérez". [1]
In 1992 Barrioz became the lead singer of the Nicaraguan band Macolla, where she sang for almost 4 years. With this band Barrioz recorded two CDs, Sueños (Dreams) and Bailarlo Contigo (Dance it with you), signed and distributed by Sony Music label. [1] Barrioz also holds the record of having the first music video shot in film format in the history of Nicaragua with Macolla, "Sólo Soy" (I Only Am).
In 1997 Barrioz launched her first CD as a solo artist, Razones Prohibidas (Forbidden Reasons), all songs composed and produced by Pierre Pierson). [1] She later went on to represent Nicaragua at the "Festival Internacional de la Canción OTI 2000" in Acapulco, México.
Barrioz has sung duos with the re-known Dominican imitator Julio Sabala; [2] Hernaldo Zúñiga, composer of many international hits recorded by Latin stars such as Pandora (musical group) and Manuel Mijares; multi Latin Grammy winner Luis Enrique known as "el Príncipe de la Salsa"" (the Prince of Salsa)., [3] and Alvaro Torres -"El romántico de América" [4] [5]
Through her career Barrioz has had invitations to many international and national events such as "Teletón de Costa Rica", "Teletón de Nicaragua", [3] "Voces Unidas por Nicaragua", "¡Qué Viva la Tradición!" and "Homenaje a Los Beatles". [6] As well as the inaugurations of the Acoustic Shell in Managua and the "Casino del Sol".
In 2006 Barrioz was invited by the Nicaraguan boxing champion, Ricardo Mayorga, to sing the Nicaraguan National Anthem, Salve a ti, Nicaragua, in the boxing ring before his fight with Oscar de la Hoya. [7]
Barrioz made her debut as an actress in 2006 in the Rossana Lacayo's shortfilm Brisa Nocturna ("Night Breeze"). [7] Brisa Nocturna has competed at over 20 international independent film festivals and has already won the following awards: "Best Actress" at the San Francisco Shortfilm Festival, [8] "Best Artistic Direction" at the Festival de Cine de Granada [9] and "La Réalisation Intégrale" at the "Festival du Cinéma de Bruxelles". Telenica is a nationwide state-run terrestrial television channel from Nicaragua, founded by Nicaraguan businessman Carlos Briceño in 1992. The channel was bought by Juan Carlos Ortega Murillo in late 2009, yet it was not made public until January 2010, the change in ownership led to a change in profile. TN8 is one of Nicaragua's main channels.

"Buenos Amigos" is a down-tempo, pop ballad duet recorded by Salvadoran recording artist Álvaro Torres and American recording artist Selena for Torres' sixth studio album Nada Se Compara Contigo (1991). The song was released by EMI Latin in 1992, as the album's second single. Its lyrics explore a friendship built on the strong, unrequited feelings of the male narrator. Torres composed "Buenos Amigos" after attending a showcase event at which Selena was performing.

The 2006 Central American Junior and Youth Championships in Athletics were held at the Estadio Cementos Progreso in Ciudad de Guatemala, Guatemala, between May 11–13, 2006. Organized by the Central American Isthmus Athletic Confederation (CADICA), it was the 19th edition of the Junior (U-20) and the 14th edition of the Youth (U-18) competition. A total of 80 events were contested, 41 by boys and 39 by girls. Overall winner on points was Guatemala.

Rossana Lacayo de Herguedas known professionally as Rossana Lacayo is a Nicaraguan photographer, scriptwriter, and filmmaker. She is considered a pioneer of Nicaraguan cinema as stated by the Nicaraguan Cultural Institute. In 2003 she founded Gota Films (Nicaragua) an independent film company. She is a member of ANCI. Lacayo resides in Nicaragua with her family.
Marina Eugenia Jacoby Santos is a Nicaraguan model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss Nicaragua 2016. She represented her Nicaragua at the Miss Universe 2016 pageant.
The 2018–2020 Nicaraguan protests began on 18 April 2018 following a move by the government of Daniel Ortega to reform social security. Following the deaths of protesters, demonstrations intensified and grew into a large anti-Ortega movement seeking his removal from office.

Mauricio Herdocia Sacasa was a Nicaraguan jurist who specialized in international law, and diplomat. He held roles in the Nicaraguan government, especially in the Foreign Ministry, across party lines, as well as roles in major international legal bodies including at the United Nations and the Organization of American States. In the 1980s, he worked on a number of peace processes in Central America, helping formalize legal and political structures for the region. Also a legal scholar and professor, he was rector of the American College University and the author of four books on the laws governing the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Nicaragua. His contributions were recognized with a number of honors both nationally and internationally, including Nicaragua's Order of Rubén Darío.

Pa`l Mundo Tour is the first world tour by the reggaeton duo Wisin & Yandel to promote their fifth studio album Pa`l Mundo. It consisted of two legs in Latin America and United States. This tour included their first presentation at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico and it marked the first time that a reggateon act sold out two consecutive nights at the venue. Also, their presentation in Radio City Music Hall in New York and Altos de Chavon in Dominican Republic, marked the first time that a reggaeton act performed at those venues. Both concerts were reported sold out.
Los Vaqueros Tour is the second concert tour by reggaeton duo Wisin & Yandel to support their album Los Vaqueros.The tour consisted of a series of concerts and festivals in Latin America and included the concert titled "La Triologia del genero" with reggaeton superstar Don Omar and had the highest attendance for a reggaeton concert at the time with around 80,000 fans.
