Stephen Rodger Waugh is an Australian former international cricketer and twin brother of cricketer Mark Waugh. A right-handed batsman and a medium-pace bowler,Waugh is considered one of the greatest cricketers of all time. Courtney Andrew Walsh OJ is a Jamaican former cricketer who represented the West Indies from 1984 to 2001,captaining the West Indies in 22 Test matches. He is a fast bowler and considered one of the all-time greats,best known for a remarkable opening bowling partnership along with fellow West Indian Curtly Ambrose for several years. Walsh played 132 Tests and 205 ODIs for the West Indies and took 519 and 227 wickets respectively. He shared 421 Test wickets with Ambrose in 49 matches. He held the record of most Test wickets from 2000,after he broke the record of Kapil Dev. This record was later broken in 2004 by Shane Warne. He was the first bowler to reach 500 wickets in Test cricket. His autobiography is entitled "Heart of the Lion". Walsh was named one of the Wisden Cricketers of the Year in 1987. In October 2010,he was inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame. He was appointed as the Specialist Bowling Coach of Bangladesh Cricket Team in August 2016.
Glenn Donald McGrath is an Australian former international cricketer whose career spanned 14 years. He was a fast-medium pace bowler and is considered one of the greatest bowlers of all time along with the title of most accurate pace bowler of all time and a leading contributor to Australia's domination of world cricket from the mid-1990s to the late 2000s. McGrath was a member of the Australian team that won three consecutive World Cup trophies in a row,winning the 1999 Cricket World Cup,the 2003 Cricket World Cup,and the 2007 Cricket World Cup. In the 2003 final,he took the winning wicket of Zaheer Khan. McGrath was also a member of the team that won the 2006 ICC Champions Trophy.
Allan Robert Border is an Australian cricket commentator and former international cricketer. A batsman,Border was for many years the captain of the Australian team,and led his team to victory in the 1987 Cricket World Cup,the maiden world title for Australia. His playing nickname was "A.B.". He played 156 Test matches in his career,a record until it was passed by fellow Australian Steve Waugh. Border formerly held the world record for the number of consecutive Test appearances of 153,before it was surpassed in June 2018 by Alastair Cook,and is second on the list of number of Tests as captain.
David Clarence Boon is an Australian cricket match referee,former cricket commentator and international cricketer whose international playing career spanned the years 1984–1996. A right-handed batsman and a very occasional off-spin bowler,he played first-class cricket for both his home state Tasmania and English county side Durham. Frederick Robert Spofforth,also known as "The Demon Bowler",was an Australian cricket team pace bowler of the nineteenth century. He was the first bowler to take 50 Test wickets,and the first to take a Test hat-trick,in 1879. He played in Test matches for Australia between 1877 and 1887,and then settled in England where he played for Derbyshire. In 2009,he was inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame.
William Lloyd Murdoch was an Australian cricketer who captained the Australian national side in 16 Test matches between 1880 and 1890. This included four tours of England,one of which,in 1882,gave rise to The Ashes. In 2019 Murdoch was inducted into the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame.
Brian Charles Booth was an Australian cricketer who played in 29 Test matches between 1961 and 1966,and 93 first-class matches for New South Wales. He captained Australia in two Tests during the 1965–66 Ashes series while regular captain Bob Simpson was absent due to illness and injury. Booth was a graceful right-handed middle order batsman at No. 4 or 5,and occasionally bowled right arm medium pace or off spin. He had an inclination to use his feet to charge spin bowlers. Booth was known for his sportsmanship on the field and often invoked Christianity while discussing ethics and sport.
Arthur Robert Morris was an Australian cricketer who played 46 Test matches between 1946 and 1955. An opener,Morris is regarded as one of Australia's greatest left-handed batsmen. He is best known for his key role in Don Bradman's Invincibles side,which made an undefeated tour of England in 1948. He was the leading scorer in the Tests on the tour,with three centuries. His efforts in the Fourth Test at Headingley helped Australia to reach a world record victory target of 404 on the final day. Morris was named in the Australian Cricket Board's Team of the Century in 2000 and was inducted into the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame in 2001.
Montague Alfred Noble was an Australian cricketer who played for New South Wales and Australia. A right-hand batsman,right-handed bowler who could deliver both medium pace and off-break bowling,capable fieldsman and tactically sound captain,Noble is considered one of the great Australian all-rounders. He scored 13,975 first class runs between 1893 and 1920 and took 624 wickets. He made 37 centuries –including a best of 284 in 1902 –and set several partnership and high-score records for his State team.
George Giffen was a cricketer who played for South Australia and Australia. An all-rounder who batted in the middle order and often opened the bowling with medium-paced off-spin,Giffen captained Australia during the 1894–95 Ashes series and was the first Australian to score 10,000 runs and take 500 wickets in first-class cricket. He was inducted into the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame on 26 February 2008.
Belinda Jane Clark is an Australian former cricketer and sports administrator. A right-handed batter,she served as the captain of the national women's team for eleven years and was a member of triumphant World Cup campaigns in 1997 and 2005. The first player to record a double century in the One Day International (ODI) format of the game,Clark has scored the most runs and captained the most matches of any Australian woman in ODIs. William Harold PonsfordMBE was an Australian cricketer. Ponsford is the only player to twice break the world record for the highest individual score in first-class cricket;Ponsford and Brian Lara are the only cricketers to twice score 400 runs in an innings. Ponsford holds the Australian record for a partnership in Test cricket,set in 1934 in combination with Don Bradman —the man who broke many of Ponsford's other individual records. In fact,he along with Bradman set the record for the highest partnership ever for any wicket in Test cricket history when playing on away soil
George Aubrey Faulkner was a South African cricketer who played 25 Test matches for South Africa and fought in both the Second Boer War and World War I. In cricket,he was an all-rounder who was among the best batsmen in the world at his peak and was one of the first leg spin bowlers to use the googly.
Bronwyn Lianne Calver is a former Australian cricketer who played as an all-rounder for the national team. She participated in two World Cups,in 1993 and in 1997,and was part of the winning team in the latter tournament.
Victor Thomas Trumper was an Australian cricketer known as the most stylish and versatile batsman of the Golden Age of cricket,capable of playing match-winning innings on wet wickets his contemporaries found unplayable. English cricket captain Archie MacLaren said of him,"Compared to Victor I was a cab-horse to a Derby winner". Trumper was also a key figure in the foundation of rugby league in Australia. The 1988 Women's Cricket World Cup Final was a one-day cricket match between Australia and England played on 18 December 1988 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne,Australia. It marked the culmination of the 1988 Women's Cricket World Cup,the fourth edition of the tournament. Both Australia and England had previously won the competition;England won the inaugural tournament in 1973,while Australia won in both 1978 and 1982. Australia won the match by eight wickets to claim their third world title.
