M. A. Malek was a former Brigadier General in Bangladesh Army who served as an assistant to the Chief Adviser of the Caretaker government of Bangladesh with the rank of a State Minister. [1] [2]
Malek was born in Barisal,Bangladesh on 4 February 1948. His mother died when he was four-years-old. Malek attended Barisal Zilla School and later enrolled into Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). In April 1972,Malek married Fatema Khatun Neli. Fatema Khatun died on 16 January 2012. The couple had three children:Israt Malek,Tanzil Malek and Tanvir Malek.
Malek was a member of the Mukti Bahini and fought in the Bangladesh Liberation war. [3] He served as the chairman of Bangladesh Power Development Board as the Special Assistant of former Chief Adviser,Fakhruddin Ahmed,to the Caretaker Government. [4] He was head of the Ministry of Social Welfare and the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications. [5]
Malek died on 8 January 2016 in Australia. [6]
Iajuddin Ahmed was the President of Bangladesh,serving from 6 September 2002 until 12 February 2009. From late October 2006 to January 2007,he also served as Chief Advisor of the caretaker government. From October 2006 to early 2008,his responsibilities as president included the Defense Ministry of the caretaker government.

Hasan Mashhud Chowdhury was a Bangladesh Army general who was 12th Chief of Army Staff of the Bangladesh Army from 16 June 2002 to 15 June 2005. He was the last officer to serve in this position who had first been commissioned by and served with the Pakistani Army,before the Liberation War of 1971. He served for two years before the war.
The chief adviser was the head of the caretaker government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh who served as the Head of Government for 90 days during transition between one elected government to another during the term of the caretaker government. The Caretaker Government was mandated only to hold the Parliamentary Elections in Bangladesh. The chief adviser headed an Advisory Committee comprising ten Advisers. With powers roughly equivalent to those of the Prime Minister of an elected government,his executive power was constrained with certain constitutional limitations. He,as well as the other advisers,were selected from politically neutral individuals so as to be acceptable to all major political parties.

Fazlul Quader Chowdhury was a Bengali politician who served as the 5th speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan from East Pakistan. He belonged to Ayub Khan's Convention Muslim League. He was also the Acting President of Pakistan from time to time when Ayub Khan left the country. His elder brother Fazlul Kabir Chowdhury was the leader of the opposition in East Pakistan assembly. Quader was preceded by Maulvi Tamizuddin Khan of Awami League.
Anwarul Iqbal was an adviser of 2007–2009 interim caretaker government of Bangladesh.
