M. Bhaskaran

M. Bhaskaran (died 21 October 2020) was an Indian politician, and member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist). [1] He was the mayor of Kozhikode from 2005 to 2010 [2] and a member of the Kozhikode District Committee of CPI(M). [3] He was from a small village Karaparamba in Kozhikode. [4]

Bhaskaran joined CPI(M) in 1964. Since 1974, he has been a full-time activist. [5] [6]

Communist Marxist Party (CMP) was a political party in Kerala. The party was founded in 1986 when CPI(M) leader M. V. Raghavan was expelled from the CPI(M) due to a grave difference of opinion regarding the formation of alliances with the IUML. His support for forming a united front with non-secular parties such as the Muslim League in order to take on alliances led by the INC was ultimately rejected by the CPI(M) leadership. He was subsequently expelled from the Party.

A. Vijayaraghavan is an Indian politician belonging to the Communist Party of India (Marxist), and is the current Convener of Left Democratic Front in Kerala and former Acting Secretary of CPI(M) Kerala State Committee. He was born at Malappuram. He was a Member of the Parliament of India representing Kerala in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Parliament. He was the chairman of parliamentary committees on Subordinate Legislation and General Assurances, He was also the Chief Whip of CPI(M) in Rajya Sabha. He was elected to Lok Sabha from Palakkad in 1989. He is the Central Secretariat member of CPI(M) and General Secretary of All India Agricultural Workers Union.

Melathu Veettil Raghavan was a veteran Communist leader and a former Minister in Kerala state of India. He was the General Secretary of the Communist Marxist Party, an alliance partner in the United Democratic Front. Prior to the formation of the CMP he was a prominent leader of the Communist Party of India (Marxist).

D. Pandian Indian politician

David Pandian was an Indian politician who served as Member of Parliament elected from Tamil Nadu. He was elected to the Lok Sabha as an Indian National Congress–United Communist Party of India (UCPI) candidate from North Chennai constituency in 1989 and 1991 elections. He was the Tamil Nadu State Secretary of the Communist Party of India for three consecutive terms from 2005 to 2015, when he was succeeded by R. Mutharasan.

P. Sankaran was an Indian lawyer, politician and senior Indian National Congress leader. He was the son of Kelu Nair, a freedom fighter, and Makkam Amma. He died on February 25, 2020.

T. P. Chandrasekharan Indian politician

T. P. Chandrasekharan was an Indian politician who was the founder of Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP), a breakaway group of Communist Party of India (Marxist). Born in Onchiam village in Kozhikode district in Kerala, he posthumously shot to national prominence after he was hacked to death on 4 May 2012; CPI(M)'s local organization is widely blamed as the perpetrator for the murder.

The Kannur Corporation, also known as Corporation of Cannanore, is the municipal corporation that administers the city of Kannur (Cannanore), Kerala. Established in 2015, the Corporation's first mayor was E. P. Latha. South Malabar Geographical / Historical Area in Kerala, India

South Malabar refers to a geographical area of the southwestern coast of India covering some parts of the present-day Kerala. South Malabar covers the regions included in present-day Kozhikode Taluk of Kozhikode district, whole area of Malappuram district, Chavakkad Taluk of Thrissur district, and Palakkad district excluding parts of Chittur Taluk. The Fort Kochi region of Kochi city also historically belongs to South Malabar. The term South Malabar refers to the region of the erstwhile Malabar District which lies south to the river Korapuzha and bears high cultural similarity with both the Cochin as well as the North Malabar region.
