The Machakos Institute of Technology (MIT) is a private institute in Machakos, Eastern Province, Kenya. MIT has nine schools with an emphasis on social work, community development, and scientific and technological research.
MIT was founded in 2008 in response to the expansion in primary and secondary education in Kenya and a lack of corresponding increase in mid-level training colleges and universities. This led to the inability of majority of KCSE school leavers to access training, leading to a huge training gap.
The institute offers short, certificate, diploma and advanced diploma courses, and runs consultancy services.
MIT is divided into Thirteen Schools:
The minimum qualification for entry to a Diploma course is grade KCSE C− or KCE Div. 2 or its equivalent or KCE Div. 3 or the equivalent. Those with bridging courses are considered on individual basis.
The three MIT intakes are in January, May and September. Registration for the distance learning programme is possible throughout the year. Students can register online.

The Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) was a certificate awarded to students after completing the approved eight-year course in primary education in Kenya. The examination was supervised by the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC), an examining body in Kenya under the Ministry of Education. The same body also conducted and regulated the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), a certificate awarded to students after completing secondary education. KCPE and KCSE were both started in 1985 when the 8-4-4 system of education was introduced in Kenya.The last KCPE examination, under this system was done on November 1, 2023 at 11am. These exams were replaced by KPSEA.

He took up the full position of cabinet secretary for Internal Security and Coordination of National Government after being appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta in January 2018 in the president's second comprehensive cabinet appointments. On 22 January 2019, President Uhuru Kenyatta, through Executive Order Number 1 of 2019, appointed him chairperson of the National Development Implementation and Communication Cabinet Committee. Machakos University is a public university in Machakos, Kenya. Founded in 1957 as a Technical Rural Training School by the colonial government, it was later renamed Machakos Technical and Trade School in 1958, Machakos Technical School in 1967, and Machakos Technical Training Institute (MTTI) in 1987. In 2011, the institution was upgraded to Machakos University College through Legal Notice No. 130, and it was chartered as a fully-fledged public university on 7 October 2016. Today, the university is located one kilometer from Machakos City along Machakos/Wote Road.

Kenya Technical Trainers College has since 2020, started training of trainers only and transferred all other students to different colleges around. The Kenya Technical Trainers College (KTTC) was renamed in 2022 to Kenya School of TVET and got a higher mandate to provide Continuous Professional Development for TVET institutions.
