Magick Potion is an American rock band from Baltimore, formed in 2020. The group's lineup consists of Dresden Bolden (guitar, vocals), Tristan Grove (bass), and Jason Kendall (drums).

History

The group was formed in 2020 after Dresden Bolden returned to Baltimore after living in California for several years. Bolden, reuniting with his old friend Grove, decided to form a new band, recruiting Jason Kendall on drums. They released their first EP, Early Works, via Bandcamp on May 31, 2021. [1] [2]

The group eventually signed with the RidingEasy label. Their self-titled debut album was released on November 8, 2024. The album was recorded over a five-day period at Memphis Magnetic studios in Memphis, and produced by Scott McEwen and Nick Townsend. [3]

Magick Potion's musical style has been described as "heavy rock with a psychedelic edge", as well as "doom rock". The group has been compared stylistically to 1960s and 1970s rock and heavy metal bands like Blue Cheer and Budgie. The group has cited artists such as Leaf Hound, Coven, Iron Claw, and Black Widow, as well as later bands like Electric Wizard. [1] [4]
