The 17411/17412 Mahalaxmi Express is an express train belonging to Indian Railways that runs between Mumbai and Kolhapur in India. It is a daily service. It operates as train number 17411 from Mumbai CSMT to Kolhapur SCSMT and as train number 17412 in the reverse direction. After gauge conversion, the Miraj–Bangalore train was discontinued and a new direct train between Kurla and Bangalore was introduced. It is named after Mahalakshmi temple in Kolhapur.
The 17411/7412 Mahalaxmi Express presently has 1 AC 1st Class cum AC 2 tier, 1 AC 2 tier, 2 AC 3 tier, 13 Sleeper Class & 4 General Unreserved coaches. As with most train services in India, coach composition may be amended at the discretion of Indian Railways depending on demand.
Mumbai CSMT–Kolhapur SCSMT Mahalaxmi Express was introduced in 1971. Passengers were transferred from slip coaches of Bengaluru Miraj Express to Mahalaxmi Express at Miraj Junction. After gauge conversion, Bengaluru–Miraj slip Express was discontinued and Kurla–Bengaluru Express was introduced.
Now 17411 Mahalaxmi Express covers the distance of 518 kilometres in 11 hours 05 mins (47.31 km/h) & 11 hours 05 mins as 17412 Mahalaxmi Express (47.45 km/h).
As its average speed in both directions is below 55 km/h as per Indian Railways rules, it does not have an Express surcharge.
Dual-traction WCAM-2/2P or WCAM-3 locos haul the train from Mumbai CST to the destination currently, while in the past there was an interchange from electric to diesel and even before that it was fully diesel.
On 27 July 2019, 17411 Mahalaxmi Express was stuck between Badlapur Station & Vangani station for 12–15 hours after heavy rains & flooding from nearby Ulhas River. Approx 1050 passengers including 9 pregnant women were rescued by NDRF, Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, Maharashtra Police and local people of Vangani. [3]

The service name comes from the Marathi nickname "दख्खन ची राणी", a popular nickname for Pune. Deccan Queen is currently the fastest train service linking Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Pune Junction. It has an average operating speed of 60 km/h (37 mph) including stops, and a top speed of 105 km/h (65 mph). The train's long history and common use as a commuter train has gained it significant popularity, including annual celebrations of its "birthday" on June 1 at Pune Junction. It was hauled by a Kalyan-based WCAM-3 end to end up until June 2022. From June 2022, its upgraded coaches in a new livery are being hauled by a Ajni-based WAP-7.

Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Terminus is the main railway terminus in the city of Kolhapur, India. It is the end point of the Miraj to Kolhapur railway line. It falls under Pune division .It has a freight yard called Gur Market with a capacity of five freight trains nearly 4 km away from the station. Kolhapur is the centre of trade for southern Maharashtra.. This station connects Kolhapur with major cities such as Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Delhi, and Dhanbad through express trains. Some important express trains are the Mahalaxmi Express (Kolhapur–Mumbai), Deekshabhoomi Express, Haripriya Express (Kolhapur–Tirupati), IRCTC also runs the tourist luxury train Deccan Odyssey at Kolhapur station. When introduced, this train was run between Bombay Victoria Terminus (VT) and Miraj Junction as Bombay–Miraj Koyna Express, but latter extended up to Kolhapur.

Got extension to Miraj past GC as 303 Bombay Mail in 1971 & become 303 Mahalaxmi Express during 1974 with final extension to Kolhapur. During Poona–Bangalore MG era, this connects 902 MG Poona Mail, 304 MG Bombay Mail & 304 MG Mahalaxmi Express by Section Carriage Interchanged at Poona & later at Miraj.
