The National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC) based in Mumbai is the central agency established in 1975, to encourage high quality Indian cinema. It functions in areas of film financing, production and distribution and under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India. The primary goal of the NFDC is to plan, promote and organise an integrated and efficient development of the Indian film industry and foster excellence in cinema.
Jaya Jaya Mahārāṣṭra Mājhā is the official song of Maharashtra. It Is Marathi patriotic song praising the Indian state of Maharashtra. The original lyrics of the song were written by Raja Badhe. The music was composed by Shrinivas Khale and sung by folk singer Krishnarao Sable, popularly known as Shahir Sable. The song is widely used and played in the official functions of Maharashtra Government.
Marathi Cinema, also known as Marathi Chithrapat, is the segment of Indian cinema, dedicated to the production of motion pictures in the Marathi Language widely spoken in the state of Maharashtra. It is based in Mumbai. It is the oldest film industry of India and one of the leader in Filmmaking in India's film industry. The first Marathi talkie film was Ayodhyecha Raja, released in 1932, just one year after Alam Ara the first Hindi talkie, before releasing the Aayodhyecha Raja, all the Marathi films until then were Silent films with Intertitles.
Sumitra Bhave and Sunil Sukthankar were an Indian filmmaker duo working predominantly in Marathi cinema and Marathi theatre. Bhave and Sukthankar had made seventeen feature films, more than fifty short films, and four TV serials; all of which had been written by Bhave. Sunil Sukthankar, a Film and Television Institute of India graduate (1989) is also an actor and a lyricist. He has written more than 90 songs for their own films as well as various other Marathi and Hindi films. The duo had won various national and international accolades for the films Doghi (1995), Dahavi Fa (2002), Vastupurush (2002), Devrai (2004), Astu (2016) and Kaasav (2017). At the 64th National Film Awards, their feature film Kaasav won the prestigious President Golden Lotus National Award.

A Maharashtra poet) is an Indian Marathi-language musical-biographical film based on the life of Padma Shri Shahir Sable, a Maharashtrian singer, playwright, performer and folk theatre producer and director. It is directed by Kedar Shinde and produced by Sanjay Chhabria and Bela Shinde. It features Ankush Chaudhari and Sana Kedar Shinde in the leading roles. The film's screenplay was written by Pratima Kulkarni and Omkar Mangesh Datt. It was theatrically released on 28 April 2023.
