Maharashtra State Film Awards, one of the prestigious awards of Marathi cinema, are awarded by the Government of Maharashtra to Marathi language films and artists. They were first awarded in 1963.

Contents

The Maharashtra State Film Awards are adjudicated by an independent jury jointly formed by the Department of Cultural Affairs, Government of Maharashtra. The jury typically comprises eminent personalities from the film industry. A separate jury is constituted for the awards recognizing literature on cinema. Films are invited for consideration annually, and the jury evaluates the submissions to select the winners. The awards aim to promote artistic excellence in cinema and incentivize filmmakers, technicians, and producers. The Minister for Cultural Affairs announces the awardees, who are presented with the prizes by the Chief Minister of Maharashtra.

This year's award ceremony took place at Dadaji Kondadev Stadium, Thane, with the then Chief Minister of Maharashtra (late) Vilasrao Deshmukh inaugurating the function. Actor Ashok Saraf won his eleventh award for Best Actor in the Comic Role category. The following awards were presented:

Me Vasantrao is a 2022 Indian Marathi-language biographical film based on the life of the Indian classical musician Vasantrao Deshpande. The film is written by Nipun Dharmadhikari, Upendra Sidhaye and directed by Nipun Dharmadhikari. The film stars Rahul Deshpande, Vasantrao Deshpande's grandson, in the lead role. Me Vasantrao became the part of the eligibility list for the prestigious Academy Awards on 10 January 2023, which was a rare feat for Marathi cinema. The music of the film was released globally on 8 March 2022 under the music label OnClick Music which is a flagship music label of Movietone Digital Entertainment Pvt Ltd.

The Filmfare Marathi Best Director Award is one of the main awards presented given by the annual Filmfare Marathi Awards to recognise directors working in Marathi cinema. It was first presented in 1975.

The Filmfare Best Lyricist Award is given by the Filmfare magazine as part of its annual Filmfare Awards for Marathi Cinema, to the best lyricist of a soundtrack. This category was first presented in 2014. Guru Thakur was the first recipient of this award for his song "Maauli Maauli" from the film Lai Bhaari. Each individual entry shows the title followed by the production company and the producer.
