Prag Cine Awards are presented annually by Prag News & Rengoni, a satellite television channel from Assam. The aim of the award to give support, recognition and inspiration to the Assamese film industry and honour some of the eminent film personalities who have contributed to the cause of Assamese cinema of Assam. The award was first instituted in the year 2003. [1] [2] Starting from 2015, films produced in other Northeastern states were also honored in this ceremony. [3]

Zubeen Garg is an Indian singer, songwriter, composer, lyricist, music director, music producer, actor, film director, film producer, screenwriter, poet and philanthropist. He primarily works for and sings in the Assamese, Bengali and Hindi-language film and music industries, but has sung in many other languages and dialects, including Bishnupriya Manipuri, Boro, English, Goalpariya, Kannada, Karbi, Khasi, Malayalam, Marathi, Mising, Nepali, Odia, Sanskrit, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu, Tiwa. He is also a multi-instrumentalist and plays 12 instruments including anandalahari, dhol, dotara, drums, guitar, harmonica, harmonium, mandolin, keyboard, tabla and various percussion instruments. He is Assam's highest-paid singer.
Assamese cinema, is an Indian film industry of Assamese-language. It is based in Assam, India. The industry was born in 1935 when Jyoti Prasad Agarwala released his movie Joymoti. Since then the Assamese cinema has developed a slow-paced, sensitive style. In beginning the industry were called Jollywood, named for Agarwala's Jyoti Chitraban Film Studio.
Jatin Bora is an Indian actor and director who has appeared in Assamese language films since 1989. He is also an actor and director in some mobile theatre groups of Assam, including Aabahan, Hengool, Ashirbaad, Bhagyadevi, Kohinoor, Itihas and Surjya.
Ajeyo is a 2014 Assamese language drama film directed by Jahnu Barua; based on the Sahitya Akademi Award winner 1997 Assamese novel Ashirbador Rong written by Arun Sharma and adapted as screenplay by the director himself. It was produced by Shankar Lall Goenka and stars Rupam Chetia and Jupitora Bhuyan in the lead roles. The film was released on 3 January 2014.
Raag is a 2014 Indian Assamese-language drama film, starring Adil Hussain and Zerifa Wahid in the lead roles. The film was directed by Rajni Basumatary and produced by Assam State Film Corporation Limited in association with Manna Films. The film was initially released on 7 February 2014 in the state of Assam and later on 7 March 2014 in selected theaters across rest of India via PVR Director's Rare.
The Prag Cine Awards 2014 ceremony, presented by the Prag Network, honored the actors, technical achievements, and films censored in 2013 from Assam and took place on 22 March 2014, at the Koramangala Indoor Stadium in Bangalore, India. Actors duos Kopil Bora and Zerifa Wahid hosted the show. Veteran litterateur Arun Sharma, Kannada film directorNagathihalli Chandrashekhar and Bollywood film actress Mahima Chaudhary inaugurated the event.
The Prag Cine Awards 2013 ceremony, presented by the Prag Network, honored the actors, technical achievements, and films censored in 2012 from Assam and took place on 14 April 2013, at the GMCH Auditorium in Guwahati, India. Bollywood director Kalpana Lajmi, actors Pooja Bhatt, Adil Hussain were present at the event while veteran Assamese actor Pranjal Saikia and Zerifa Wahid hosted the show.
The Prag Cine Awards North-East 2015 ceremony, presented by the Prag Network, honored the actors, technical achievements, and films censored in 2014 from Assam and rest of Northeast India, and took place on 21–22 March 2015, at the Chowkidingee field in Dibrugarh, Assam. This was the first time when films produced in other Northeastern states were also honored in this ceremony. Assamese actress Nishita Goswami and television host Nabish Alam hosted the show. Film fraternities from Northeast as well as Bollywood personalities such as Neha Dhupia, Gulshan Grover, Adil Hussain were present in this event.
Queen Hazarika is an Indian playback singer and actress from Assam. She has sung for Assamese films like Hiya Diya NiyaGaram Botaah, Mon, Suren Suror Putek and Sneh Bandhan. She is the recipient of Rotary Young Achiever Award in 2013. In the same year she was nominated for Prag Cine Awards in the Best Female Playback category.
Rajni Basumatary is an Indian filmmaker and actress, best known for her role of Mary Kom's mother in the 2014 Hindi film Mary Kom. Basumatary has written and produced the highly acclaimed feature film Anurag. Her directorial debut Raag was released in all major cities in India in 2014.
Ranjit Sarma, has worked in the field of film, stage and radio play, film criticism since 1980. Third son of freedom fighter Late Pabindra Nath Sarma and Late Kunjabala Devi.
Rupam Bhuyan is an Indian playback singer from Assam. He is the frontman of the Indian fusion band North East Breeze. He is the lead vocalist of the band Tunetellers. He sang in numerous Assamese films including Khobh, Anuradha,Mumtaz ,Akash Chuboloi Mon, Majrati Keteki, Rough and Tough (2018), Krodh(2018), Kokaideu Bindass(2018), KonwarPurar Konwar, TRP, Sringkhal, Mahasamar,Raf and Taf, Surya, Anur, The Government Servent etc. He won Prag Cine Awards-2013 and Prag Cine Awards-2017 in the Best Playback Singer (male) category for the films Mumtaz and Majrati Keteki.He won the Best Male Playback Singer of Assam category for Ramdhenu Viewers choice award 2013 for the song Hahikhini jodi. He won best singer award in film category for the song ' Akakh Xonowali ' from Majrati Keteki in Gupshup Music Awards 2017. 'Jhumuri' the song by 'North East Breeze' received song of the year award in 'Pride East Awards' and 'Gup Shup Music Awards' in 2018. He composed the theme song for the Jeevan Kite and River Festival-2015 as a tribute to the river Brahmaputra.
Prodyut Kumar Deka is an Indian film director, screenwriter and author residing in Assam, India. His films include Dhunia Tirutabur, Samiran Barua Ahi Ase, Surjasta, Borosi, Chiyahir Rong, Ji Golpor Ses Nai and The Government Servant. He turned to writing english fiction gradually from 2016-17 with the anthropological Ambari Series based on the Ambari Archeological site in Guwahati.
Tonthoingambi Leishangthem, popularly known as Tonthoi, is an Indian actress. She has established a career in Manipuri films and is the recipient of several awards, including a National Film Award.

Calendar is a 2018 Indian Assamese-language drama film directed by Himjyoti Talukdar under the banner of Enajori Talkies. The film stars Moloya Goswami, Arun Nath, Gunjan Bhardwaj and Rimjhim Deka. The movie was released on 16 February 2018 in theatres across Assam. The film has received good word of mouth publicity and the footfall has been increasing since its release. Many people have expressed in social media how this film made them emotional about their relationship with the family especially old parents. The film received the maximum number of seven awards in Prag Cine Awards North East 2018 in various categories. Lead actor Arun Nath won the Jury Special Award in the 2nd Guwahati International Film Festival for his performance in the film.
Prag Cine Awards North-East 2017 is a ceremony, presented by the Prag Network, honoured the actors, technical achievements, and films censored in 2016 from Assam and rest of Northeast India, took place on 17–18 June 2017 at Kokrajhar, Assam.
III Smoking Barrels is a 2017 Indian drama film written and directed by Sanjib Dey and produced by Amit Malpani under his banner Malpani Talkies. The film is an anthology of three stories exploring three socio-political issues encompassing Northeast India. The film also seamlessly uses six spoken languages which is considered a unique feat in Indian cinema history.
