Prag News also known as Prag is a 24-hour Assamese news channel. It is the oldest local news channel of Assam owned by A M Television Pvt. Ltd. based in Guwahati.

Assamese cinema, is an Indian film industry of Assamese-language. It is based in Assam, India. The industry was born in 1935 when Jyoti Prasad Agarwala released his movie Joymoti. Since then the Assamese cinema has developed a slow-paced, sensitive style. In beginning the industry were called Jollywood, named for Agarwala's Jyoti Chitraban Film Studio.

Prabhu Chawla is an Indian journalist. He was born in Dera Ghazi Khan, Punjab, British India. He is alumni of Deshbandhu college University of Delhi. He started his career as an economics lecturer in Delhi University. He is the Editorial Director of The New Indian Express, a Chennai-based newspaper in India. Earlier he was the Editor-in-Chief of the same newspaper.

Bhabendra Nath Saikia was a novelist, short-story writer, editor and film director from Assam, India. Dr. Saikia received his doctorate in physics from the University of London. He began his career as a reader in the Department of Physics, University of Guwahati. He later played an important role in the publication of college level textbooks in the Assamese language during his tenure as the Secretary of the Co-ordination Committee for production of textbooks in regional languages.

<i>Dwaar</i> 2013 Indian film

Dwaar is a 2013 Indian Assamese drama film directed by Bidyut Chakravarty, with his own screenplay, and produced by Sanjive Narain and Bidyut Chakravarty himself. It was adapted from the Assamese short story Bahiroloi Jowa Baat by Apurba Sarma. Dwaar stars Kapil Bora, Zerifa Wahid and Mahika Sharma in the lead roles. The literal translation of the title means Door.

Prag Cine Awards are presented annually by Prag News & Rengoni, a satellite television channel from Assam. The aim of the award to give support, recognition and inspiration to the Assamese film industry and honour some of the eminent film personalities who have contributed to the cause of Assamese cinema of Assam. The award was first instituted in the year 2003. Starting from 2015, films produced in other Northeastern states were also honored in this ceremony.

The Prag Cine Awards 2014 ceremony, presented by the Prag Network, honored the actors, technical achievements, and films censored in 2013 from Assam and took place on March 22, 2014, at the Koramangala Indoor Stadium in Bangalore, India. Actors duos Kopil Bora and Zerifa Wahid hosted the show. Veteran litterateur Arun Sharma, Kannada film directorNagathihalli Chandrashekhar and Bollywood film actress Mahima Chaudhary inaugurated the event.

The Prag Cine Awards North-East 2015 ceremony, presented by the Prag Network, honored the actors, technical achievements, and films censored in 2014 from Assam and rest of Northeast India, and took place on March 21–22, 2015, at the Chowkidingee field in Dibrugarh, Assam. This was the first time when films produced in other Northeastern states were also honored in this ceremony. Assamese actress Nishita Goswami and television host Nabish Alam hosted the show. Film fraternities from Northeast as well as Bollywood personalities such as Neha Dhupia, Gulshan Grover, Adil Hussain were present in this event.

Munin Barua was an Indian film director in Assamese cinematography. Among his best-known films are Pita-Putro, Prabhati Pokhir Gaan, Hiya Diya Niya, Daag, Nayak and Bidhata. Barua is widely regarded in Assam to have been one of the directors who helped popularize and establish Assamese cinema outside the state, primarily elsewhere in India where other industries had historically dominated. In 2000, his film Hiya Diya Niya became a first 'blockbuster hit' in Assamese cinema, which helped to revive the Assamese film industry. His another film, Dinabandhu received National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Assamese in 2005.

Tonthoingambi Leishangthem, popularly known as Tonthoi, is an Indian actress. She has established a career in Manipuri films and is the recipient of several awards, including a National Film Award.

Dr. Bezbaruah 2 is an Indian Assamese-language suspense thriller film released on 3 February 2023 which is a sequel of Dr. Bezbarua, released 53 years previous. Dr. Bezbaruah 2 is directed by late Assamese actor Nipon Goswami who was also the lead actor of Dr. Bezbarua. The story, screenplay and dialogues are written by Rajdweep and music by Zubeen Garg. It is produced by Sanjive Narain and co-produced by Akshata Narain under the banner AM Television.
